5A-FE, rebuilt, tappet noise

Aoa, I am located in Karachi and I got my corolla's 5a-fe completely rebuilt from a friend 6 months ago. There was tappet noise from the first day, which he said that would eventually go. I am on my third oil change and it is still there. Took the car to him and he has told me that the head will have to be removed. Can't the buckets be fixed by a machinist? Please suggest me a good toyota mechanic that I can go to next week and get this fixed. I am tired of the tak tak tak tak noise.

Dil to kar rhaa hai Kuch bolo Lekin sensor ship hai.

Get the valve clearance adjusted to
Intake 0.006 inch .
Exhaust 0.008 inch.
Engine acceleration plus fuel economy will be improved and you will love it

Mai samaj sakta hu, mera b boht dil kar raha hai. Will the head be removed, ya sirf cam nikaal k buckets se adjustment hojaegi? Karachi mai hai koi recommended?

Nothing will be removed. Just need to open tappet cover and adjust valve on cold engine with a feeler gauge. Some decent mechanics know this. Most will say valve jam/dheely rakhdia hy chal k set hoga.

Cams need to be removed. Do mark each cup and shim while removing.

Mark as in, to know where to put them again? Do you know of any reliable mechanic who'd do the job properly?

Yes.
I did myself back when i got 5afe. But the shims need to be adjusted by a machine shop. You have to give him specs. And sometimes need to add new ones as well.

whenever such term is used by the car mechanic, you should know his background and understanding level and logical action is to move to someone else for work needed.

Bro, you got your engine rebuilt from a friend. So is it like a mechanic who is also a friend or a friend who is also a mechanic. Secondly, in the 45 years that I have spent so far on Mother Earth, I have learnt never to do any business with a relation, friend etc. Not everyone is a cheat but sometimes it is more a case of competence of the other side. You cannot demand anything without spoiling that particular relationship and at the end of it, is it really worth it? If you have been Blessed with the giving hand, simply pay in the top bracket and ensure you get top service....

this does not work for DABOO Tappets ..

your friend mechanic gave a very nice slippery treat stealing from you, such friends be treated with cactus in rear.

the head need to be removed and the machine shop will readjust the DABBO and seat the shim.

True. I was told all kind of things before the rebuilt, sadly the engine was even quieter before this debacle. Should have went for someone with more sound knowledge, as I have already paid a heft amount of money.

Called irshad, he said at times the clearance can be adjusted without removing the head and that the tappets shouldn't have been left loose in the first place since its a daboo wala engine. Will go to him this wednesday, thanks alot for ur guidance.

5AFE use shim type adjustments....need to be done at time of rebuilding head......

@Salmaanawan as you mentioned it was complete rebuild.....i am sure after this its NOT.....be ready if anything else pop again in upcoimg months.....
