Btw, dont let the mechanic install new rings and pistons without checking the bore clearance and also making sure its honed properly.

Otherwise it will end up wirh an even bigger blowby problem.

Its running on water. And no, there is not Tstat valve. Sometimes, the car temperature needle barely leaves the bottom marker even after driving for 20KM. I purchased Toyota coolant but lot of people said that a car previously on water will cause leaks if you put coolant in it. Anyhow, now that the head is open, I have asked the workshop to replace the water with coolant after a flush.

After rings/pistons replacement is done, please get the cooling system checked thoroughly. Don't forget fitting a new T- stat valve and changing radiator cap. Inspect the combination belt, water pump and hoses, and replace as required.

I am not sure if this engine has an EGR, never saw one.

It sure has an EGR.

If the EGR is stuck open or closed then please get it deleted using a blanking plate aka packing.

Yar to be honest, they are in or considered to be in the top tier. I myself saw Ronnie Patels rally rig there back in 2018 alongside some other 4x4 rigs. Also they claim and are considered as one of the first to be supporting the rally guys back in the day. I got some minor maintenance jobs done from them which were satisfactory

This is a deadly gamble on a 1HD, as the pump is geared to the crankshaft.

What sort of moronic mechanic opens an engine to deduce that rings are worn down - We already have tools called leak down testers, cylinder compression testers etc to "SEE" where the engine has worn out.

I was told that turbo only is replaced whereas a Kit is available (which costed Rs 35,000) which replaces the whole internals.

But these comments don't give positive signals about this workshop.

dont apply a "QOW" scale because you saw some rally trucks there.

I dont care if they park maybachs in the forecourt - but if they are opening the engine to look at rings for "If they are worn" - They lost all credibility almost immediately.

A bit offtopic, and hope you read it, but for recent few months, I've owned a silver KE70 with 4age 16v TVIS engine, and the word on the street was that Xulfiqar did the engine swap. Sold it off few months ago as it was becoming too dear and wasn't seeing much action.

I did do such swaps but its been a really really long time. If the mechanics/owners have not ripped out the tags I put; you may find them - It should be a pretty black and red ID tag with a serial number riveted to the car in the engine room. The tag says "converted by ZRS"

The wiring loom etc will also be having a "bulkhead" connector so one can undo the entire wiring and pull the engine out with the wiring attached to it.

But this is only possible if they have not been "ustaadified" later on - its been 16 years at least.

Recently some people have been saying this for stuff I dont even know or touched. Do you have a picture of your car?

Aalijah! Just stated they are considered to be in the top tier.

Yes, its close to brookes chowrangi, Mehran Town. But its shifted to a new place as we speak (with my vehicle and I haven't seen the new place yet). I'll post pictures and new address when I go there.

Instructed the workshop to do this. Thanks. Is there an engine breaking period after changing of pistons, during which the car will be driven at variable RPMs and with no consistent load?

And... Arshad Bhai, only share the sale price If you feel convenient and comfortable, and / or, the other person is potential seller or buyer of that vehicle, and wants to have idea about market price of such vehicle.

Else if, IMO, its not a polite and nice gesture to ask others; how much you bought for? How much you sold for? Etc.
