I am in Karachi, getting this work done from a workshop in Korangi area run by a person named Amjad, a senior fella, has work mostly related to rally cars and 4X4. I was in the area looking for a place once referred by Mr. Hanif Bhatti on PW where he mentioned that his vehicles go there. I didn't find that place but ended up with this one.
So far, I've spent over 2 lack 40 thousand. Turbo was the big dent costing 55,000 for the unit. Power Steering pump was 18 thousand where as tie rods were another 12,000. Bushing set was 24,000 and seals were mere 3,500.
I was told that turbo only is replaced whereas a Kit is available (which costed Rs 35,000) which replaces the whole internals.
I've had Shell helix ultra 5w40 changes only less than 500 km ago, the car was running great and mileage in city was over 7 (I drive quite nicely). If it comes down to 20w50, ill take your advice and not go for Delo but something synthetic.
Namda... of course, lots of interior and cosmetic improvement is required in and around the car. Once it gets on its feet again, will look in to that. Interior's carpeting, new steering wheel, door pannels etc, bumbers need paint and the body can use a good shower. Will need a new set of tires aswell pretty soon. Noted your advice, and as earlier commented by Xulficar Sb, leaks should not be accepted as norm, so yes, trying to mend those as much as possible.
Engine blowby, yes, i would say. There is oil accumulated in the air intake hose pipe, if that is sign of blowby, then it is there.
The rest of information on greasing .... I didn't know any of that. Thats gold. I'll note for future. I know this thread has so much informtion earlier but the work on my car was not a planned one, it just happened as I dropped the car for transmission oil leakage inspection and ended up doing all the nice to have work on it. I'll check if the car has been greased on the required places before taking delivery.
