9th gen civic engine explodes

I have a Honda maintained 9th gen civic with r18 in it. Vehicle has covered 130k kms. Still running on 10w30, did 13kml local 16 kml long, perfectly smooth and quiet engine.
One fine day, I took a uturn, I heard tak tak tak, it took me a few seconds to straighten the wheel and the check oil warning came. I immediately switched off the engine, popped the hood to find a hole in the block

After taking the engine out and opening it up, we discovered that the engine was perfectly healthy, one piston seized out of the blue, it's connecting rod broke and made 4 holes in the block.

Has anybody else ever heard or experienced anything similar

Nope. Oil pump was healthy, there was oil spread evenly around

There's this guy who has a YouTube channel, quite famous, Habib. Same happened to his car but he said his cars' engine had sucked water and after few months this happened (exact same thing). He later got the engine swapped and sold the car.

I had a similar experience in my Alto 08
While crawling in traffic the engine went full tractor in its noise... Opening up the engine we found in 1 cylinder, the gudgeon pin broke and the connecting rod bent ... It was an oil pump failure.

Post pics of Piston, cylinder bore, wristpin, crank journal, bearings and the broken con rod. Maybe we can then assess better.

What was the condition of spark plug of that particular cylinder ?

Throwing a rod is an oil starvation issue.

the oil pump is only good if the rest of the oiling galleries are ok, e.g. if you have a dumped oil leak somewhere like a blocked open spray nozzle or some other dumping site, then oil will take past of least resistance and flow out of there, the pump doesnt care where the oil goes.
