Need to know your views about Toyota COROLLA SE SALOON Automatic, model 2002-2005.

-How is it on the road (city, motorway) .......Ride, Comfort, etc.

-How does it handle road bumps, speed breakers and off-road (country side).

-How is it different from GLi (I know it has a bigger engine and A/T). But what about Suspension, Tire Size, Seats, Interior, Sound System, etc......any different?

-Is A/T any good, any jerks?

-What are some known problems.

-Any difference b/w 2002, 03, 04 and 05 models.

-Fuel average on Petrol.

-Does it work well with CNG?

-CNG average?

-And finally what is the market price nowadays?

Overall:

The car is very dull and depressive, ride comfort is satisfactory although driving pleasure is absolutely zero. It does well on both CNG and petrol, and there no differences in 02-05 models except after 04 I believe they changed the front grille, and as per my knowledge, the late 05 (extremely rare) have the facelifted rear taillights.

The market price in Karachi is typically 700-750k for a 2003 Se Saloon Automatic with less than 100k km, in very good condition and with CNG fitted.

Do you think only this car is very dull and depressive or are all automatic cars without driving pleasure?

Regarding the price, 2 cars were sold last Sunday for 725k. I made several calls today but the asking prices are around 850-870k.

Where can I get a car for 700-750k?

it has got optitron meter, wooden looking interior which is absent in gli and xli. It used to come with alloy rims till 2004.
Got an airbag in the steering. And i guess push type reading lamps too.

If you can live with it brakes. Its an excellent choice.
Not as thrilling as 1.6 VTI but a nice decent car.
The meter rocks and transmission is also swift.

Good choice, comfortable very different from gli,xli, slightly fuel eater in auto but manual is far good, i think better from Honda cause its rigidness, engine is silent also,brakes issue is only may in xli not in SE saloon well if change its tires than its amazingly good.

if u ask me ive driven both the cars, civic 01 manual which the same till 06

and a firends se.saloon (auto)

Corolas drive can only be understood by a proper driver.
Wen u drive it u really feel like ur driving sumthing and enjoy it. can beat any thing, braking is so/so, cng u can get 80k/mile, if u have a heavy foot,

and belive me SE-SAlOON Auto and GLI have a Zameen asmaan ka faraq in the drive

while civics are lighter, sportier, more fun to race on.

Disclamier: jst my driving experiences, no honda toyota war.

well manny local cars still dont have ABS but corolas got a heavy body, or wrong brakes, or i dunt noe wats the problem, but the car skids if u press the pedal in an emergency or jst for the sake of enjoyment, thats the reason for most corolas having head collisions....

i agree about the breaks. It needs improvement. I have driven my mammo's auto 2005 SE and i have my altis. I can hear our abs engaging frequently.

With a wise choice of tyres as per your requirement, and careful handling the brakes problem can be overcome.

Anyone has issue with the power steering?

I checked 3 SE Saloons yesterday. And on 2 of them steering was hard. While on 1 it was soft. You could turn the steering easily with one finger (while the engine was on).

I have the same issue with my GLi. On my 2000 Civic VTi, with engine running, the steering was soft, but on the GLi it remains hard!!!!!

Hi , i have got Corolla Se Saloon 2002 on 17 feb 2009, the cars interior and exterior condition is excellent. But seal for engine oil is leaking further its head gaskit is to be changed. I have paid 530K along with my sunny nissan 90 model for the car, it costed around 780K to me yet and will exceed 800K after geting things fixed. Could any body suggest best work shop for getting its complete check-UP.
