About to buy Passo 2015 - last minute tips and hints :D?

Just want to ask just as gentleman above mentioned that arranging parts can sometimes be a huge hassle. What kind of parts are we talking about here? the basic ones or God forbid if something goes wrong with the engine or transmission, will be we at the mercy of a mechanic or two who will suck the lifeblood out of us?

my friend, why not easy way out? If I am spending 1.6m, I would want easy way out :). For me 1.6 m is really something and this is going to be the most expensive car I will be buying from my own money iA.

For me, its a big decision and nothing to fall back on to hence the thought of running in to issues and visiting mechanic or electricians shortly after spending so much on a car would really be sad

Will give you good economy
And the feel of a sedab is much better than hatch back

With all due respect, if a proper and detailed search is done before purchase, one doesn't have to spend a peny on the jdm. I have bought atleast 10 jdms after 2012, ranging from models of 2007-2013. Not once did I have to spend any extra amount on the car immediately after purchase. It is usually after 50k driving that a few issues come up and require maintenance,
But like i said, you need to be enthusiast and need to have a know how of cars in order to fully utilize and enjoy a jdm. If one lacks these things, its best to buy a pkdm because they have a safety net of dealerships, who though will rob you, but 9 times out of 10, it will get your job done.
1.6 mil is a big amount for many people, you aren't the only one. if you are open to suggestions, kindly list down your requirements, preferences, usage and location, then one can give a detailed suggestion.

The most difficult is arranging cosmatic parts..though they are available bu at exorbitant prices. Moreover, i have read about malfunction of passo's fuel pump here on some forum at PW. He did everything to fix it, tried vitz pump as well but ultimately got a new from abroad on a hige price after efforts of several weeks. I have personal experiance of AC belt making screeching noise and break down twice on my 2013/2017 Wagon R. I replaced twice but screeching noise never went away, the mech said the only option is to buy genuine belt from some kabli engine and it goes true with every japanese car, local belts doesn't suit them. Local mean Made in Thailand. Chocking of cat converter of these cars is also a major problem. I have seen even 4.5 grade car and 4 grade car with 42k km mileage with chocked cat converter. Just take a round to BURRAQ AUTOS CHAH SULTAN...famous for repair of japanese cars on some weekend and once u ll see bunch of graded cars broke down and their repair/ fix you will never desire to go for JDM. I have seen graded prius, honda fit, honda fit shuttle, passo all lying down there. I mean to say what the hell is this that u spend a lot of money and on weekend instead of enjoying with family you are roaming in sultan ka khoo and searching for hybrid battery fan, regulator, O2 sensor, cat converter, belts, other sensors, disc plate etc...No sir No...atleast not acceptable to me...not my piece of cake. I had PKDM civic and City and i can safely say that i have driven them around 205000 and 242000 km respectively and NEVER EVER i needed to go sultan ka khoo... they required almost zero maintenance except oil change, filters change, brake pads and belts which are widely available everywhere on very cheap rates. Even once i sold both vehicles, they had the same coolent which came from the company. DAMN RELIABLE.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. A good car is worth it be it PKDM or JDM i.e if you take care of it correctly.

I have seen people ruin their cars by simply putting non compatible engine and gear oils. When user manuals say Use 0w20. Desi ustads put 20w40 saying sir gari 1 lac chali hoi hay. This is all nonsense.

My Passo served me so well for first 3-4 years. Not even a single visit to mechanic. Just regular oil changes.

Engine / transmission are all available. But body parts are main issue. I had an accident in my passo. Since then I have been trying to find a good front bumper + genuine mud shields. Still not able to source it. Maybe because my car's model is 2007 which is too old now.

Wow i can't believe a suzuki car and a cultus at that is suggested instead of toyota.

I had the same budget almost - 1.2 million and i really wanted the vitz but good ones were expensive. So bought a toyota passo from my friend instead.

Suzuki is a horrible horrible piece of crap company. There is no safety feature in any of their crappy cars that are extremely expensive pieces of shit considering they can make these cars in just thousands and charge a fortune to buy.

I owned the suzuki baleno and you can't believe how sick and tired it made me, issues after issues. I stopped driving it completely and couldn't sell it either.

The ride quality of passo is far far better than suzuki sedans. Toyota makes safe cars, every JDM has airbags and safety features which locally assembled don't.

I have been in suzuki cultus in really good condition in careem and the ride quality is shit. My home to university is 25km and in that 25km i hated the ride and my back hurt. Even the japenese made altos ride quality is shit.

Suzuki is a greedy shitty company and they got out of American markets years ago on account of how shitty they are.

Now i own the passo and one thing you will immediately notice is the power. It's underpowered! Anyone who says otherwise is lying but that's okay because this car was made for a different purpose. Fuel Economy, spacious and cheap.

The AC is rocking, i felt chilly and it works super good on my 2011 passo x trim. Ride is comfortable than a baleno owing to these great comfortable seats.

Now passo feels underpowered and unresponsive because of the cvt transmission but it's a relatively new tech and in few years cvt will improve. It's extremely unfair to compare a cultus which is manual with an automatic cvt at that. Every cvt tranny will feel underpowered compared to an automatic and especially against manual. Even then with the manual cultus is still an underpowered car and you will feel that.

So if you had asked me a month ago, on a budget of 1.6 million, i would've suggested toyota corolla if you don't mind the manual version or honda city. You can't go wrong with toyota or honda. They're great automakers who don't drop quality to loot its customers. You can even get great used cars for 1.6 million, the Toyota fielder has ride quality that's to live for.

You have 1.6 million as budget and bought a suzuki cultus. What can i say than you have been ripped off. The suzuki swift which is supposed to be their popular hatchback has shit ride quality. That says a lot about their vision for the company.

But anyway if you like it, what can i say. Enjoy and have fun. With 1.6 million you had so many options, oh well

Suzuki Cultus Auto Gear Shift has ABS, air bags and immobilizer key.

Honda City introduced immobilizer in its 2017 release as an optional feature. Their 3rd party RFID immobilizer isnt even integrated in the key, rather hangs like a tea bag. The immobilizer is likely to malfunction as mentioned by honda owners in Pakwheels forum. This doesnt make the city a great option in my opinion.

Toyota corolla introduced immobilizer in their gli mid 2016 model which makes it out of range in a 1.6 m budget.

Check out the review of a suzuki cultus 2018 and cheapness oozes out of its every part. It's a mehran with new looks and a little bit of improvement and million rupees price tag instead of 8 lacs like mehran.

If you really think the cultus is better than any toyota corolla or honda civic or city then how can i argue with that lol.

I don't know what's with this craze in Pakistanis for subpar crappy cars. Suzuki makes bad cars and their audience is the people who can't afford good cars, when you somehow grab 1.6 million a whole new world of extremely good cars become available.

My 2011 used Toyota passo has traction control, suzuki doesn't even know what traction control is hahaa
