Anyone heard of or has experience with this brand? Or should we stick to other brands like guard, OEM or leppon/Vic? 450 (Alfa) Vs 1650 (Vic) is a big difference imo.

Their prices are pretty good but idk if it's a classic case of you get what you pay for.

you Cannot compare Genuine with Leppon / Vic, similarly you cannot compare Leppon/Vic with Guard.

I tried air filter from Suzuki Genuine, JS, Leppon, Guard and Alfa. The quality is as per the mentioned order.

for best health stick to the Genuine / OEM.

P.S There is cost of Quality and you have to pay that

Doesn't guard manufacture OEM oil filters for honda/Toyota here? Doesn't that make them the same quality? Or am I misinformed. Car brands don't make their own parts, they outsource. For example, in Canada, honda, nissan and others oil filters are actually made by Fram, a filter that is widely available at local part stores for around the same price. So you are actually getting a Fram filter with honda stamped on it.

Are there any 'local' brands that are reliable or of good quality?

I am not of the belief that the most expensive brand is the best quality, unless that's just how things are in Pak.

It would be nice to find good quality, local made components that actually last.

how can a 400 PKR filter compete with 2500 PKR filter ?

you can compare the quality of paper being used in local one's and imported one's. Difference is very clear.

Guard is just an alternative (for low price lovers) to genuine filters

of course auto manufacture does not make filter, like Suzuki Pakistan Uses Japanese Brand filter with label of Suzuki Genuine Part.

you also need to factor in the cost of import taxes, duties etc for the imported filter, as compared with the local filter.

That's kind of what I was getting at. Is the imported filter just as good as the local one and the extra cost is just import fees and duties? How do we know?

Does import automatically equal good/better than local? Maybe if it's made in Japan or made to a certain standard.

I guess unless we buy/cut open each and every oil filter or compare air filters we just won't know. I assume the mindset here in Pak is that imported is automatically better than local. Maybe that's true/fact

It would be cool if a made in Pakistan product could compare to or even outshine imported goods but alas

@xulfiqar I did... I am not impressed. For Toyota users, genuine Thai made filters are better alternative if you cannot opt for Japan made filters. I should probably give it benefit of the doubt as I have no idea how a genuine LePPON can be differentiated from a fake LePPON. for imported filters, consider costs of manufacturing in japan/thailand+freight+duty+taxes+extraordinary car maker & dealership profit which makes a simple paper-made thing worth thousands of rupees. i use Guard in all my new cars and costs just 350 rupees and throw it every 5-6k km on oil change although it can be stretched to 8-10k km in city driving. affordable plus good quality plus serves the purpose very well. i have seen suzuki dealerships keeping Guard filters as alternative option as very few people can afford a genuine one.

I have only had 1 experience with guard who are now the honda atlas supplier for cabin filter the 5th gen city.

The paper quality is thinner, where it could not maintain its shape in the filter tray, thus leaving gaps for unfiltered air to get through. Then, the arrow mentioned on which way is up, was upside down. Not saying others havnt used it without issue, but I wont personally buy it again.

So, to partly answer my own question, I will write up a little background.

We have a 2015 Suzuki every turbo as a second vehicle. For my 8mths being in Pakistan, father who has been here a bit longer than I have, had been taking his previous vezel and this to Makki oil store for oil changes. This is the second oil change during our ownership of this van.

I would notice on cold start, it would tick for about 6-10 seconds. I did find it a bit alarming, but never gave it much thought due to being busy. I figured that I'd switch to a thinner oil weight next oil change as it's only been 1200 Kms since my last oil change.

I asked Makki oil to use guard filters as I had heard they were decent. The receipt indeed said guard last time, but this time it said power. I noticed both times the change was done, they used power speed branded oil filter.

I ordered an original leppon filter for 760 off daraz, and yesterday, took off the power speed and installed the Leppon.

Since doing this, no more startup noise. Startup noise on warm engine is also reduced.

I am 100% satisfied with the more expensive filter. By briefly looking into the leppon Vs power, you can definitely see a quality difference ....in weight too.

You can see some kind of paste smeared inside the powerspeed one too.

I may decide to cut open the power speed filter just for curiosity sake.

I saw a thread about someone cutting open a leppon filter. I'm seeing odd similarities between the powerspeed and leppon that he cut open. I think he may have cut oprn a 'fake' one.

What I noticed, the leppon's finishing was very nice. It also weighed more than the powerspeed one. I am now doing my own oil changes from this point on.
