I'm forced to make this thread after the sad and discriminatory behavior which I faced yesterday by Isb police.
Yesterday I was stopped at a check post in Isb. First I was asked to give registration book and id + license afterwards. I provided all those things.
Then the stupid policeman saw blinds placed in the car ( I was not even using them! )....... He took them out and threw on the road saying that u have to destroy them.
Then the senior policeman (even more stupid) took 15 mins to ask baseless questions about my car's registration..... He asked me that where is my authority letter? I suppose that a son doesn't need an authority letter to drive his father's car.
Anyhow he tried his best but failed to point out any loophole in documents but when I asked about the return of blinds then he said that "kuch do ge to mil sakti hain...." and demanded 200rs. I felt very disappointed by this behavior and I had no option, so I gave him 150rs and took my blinds back.

I have two questions popping in mind:
Are these check posts (nakay) created just to make money and disturb ordinary citizens?

In my whole life I never heard that blinds are illegal ( while I was not even using them! ) so how I did anything illegal?

Atlast I must say that govt should issue a handbook containing all necessary laws so that we could manage accordingly and a full stop may be given to this "bhatta khori" of police!

Sir i had been in your position not once but countless times,i can feel your pain..It all comes down to the morality of a nation..and Pakistanis most of them are pathetic lowlifers living nothing else than on rishwat khori..There are good people aswell but there numbers are so feeble that they just get shaded down..

We Pakistanis as a nation are corrupt to the roots..and for me this country has no promising future.

You did well in not confronting them(trust me it backfires) ,and its good you got off with just 150 rupees..

I had a similar experience last Monday. At the checkpost on fazlehaq road, near shaheen dwatson in blue area.
My experience - try to avoid the checkposts as much as possible if driving alone. Also, as soon as the police walas stop you, start recording on your phone (audio) let them do whatever they have to. Then just show them a small sample, and tell them to wait for this to come on the evening news with their names.
I did exactly the same. But I went a step further. Went to the kohsar police station with a buddy who was in army uniform. Met the sho, played him the recording. Needless to say - the SHO was quite interested after I politely told him that I intend to email this to geo TV as well.
The isb police is a worthless piece of s**t posse of people. Real low lifes. I have found the traffic police to be way better. The poor IG lost his job cause of a similar incident involving a serving PSO in the GHQ. The guy wasn't carrying his service ID card and didn't look like a general officer. Police harassed him (blue area check post near the ISE building). I hope the new IG takes care of the things a bit better.
I really hope that someone changes these pigs' attitude. I used to feel sorry at the poor police walas standing on the roadsides looking for rides, in rain or in the scorching sun. But since having a few bad experiences with them, I feel happy (I know it sounds sadistic but that's just how they have made me think now). I almost get tempted to lower down my window and shout a nice cuss word at them.
I always try to go out of my way to avoid them. Not all checkposts are bad though. But try to avoid the ones controlled by Kohsar police as much as possible. Blue area and the ones between F8 and F7 (on Margalla road and on the faisal avenue). I will go through F8, and then make a u-turn on faisal avenue (the u turn close to the underpass) and then enter F7 from the opening at the corner (next to the underpass) and then get on the F7 south service road, and then enter blue area from Saudi pak towers to avoid them.
I am all for starting a community here on PW and getting united to deal with these harassing cops together in a collective approach!!
I don't feel safe with them either. These characterless low life scums waste their time with the law abiding decent citizens, while the real perpetrators drive away. And to think that my taxes pay for their fugly faces!!!! Makes my blood boil!

No one on pakwheels can help neither if you complaint at the highest level at the ISB police or Interior ministry. This is how the system is at this point in the whole country. People are killed in day light infront of dozen of people, rather infront of police and nothing happens. Or they themself are involved. All these car thefts all over the country, Police wala are involved in someway.

BTW the IGP Capital Police himself is under investigation in death of his daughter in law at this time :S

As far as Blinds/ shades/tints.. any thing which obstructs the view , I mean which hide you from outside at per current law in Pakistan is illegal. Blinds/shades if are on.. Police wala can stop you for it. Thats is diffeernt story that you pay some "tea water" and get away with it. I totaly understand tht behaviour of police wala is very bad but Its better not to argue with them.. and just leave them.

In the end its Ramadan and they need to collect Edi anyways.. It will become worse once you get near Eid-Ul-Fitr. You were driving a car. Ask motorbike owners.. how much they are upset due to their behaviour.

So just take it as thing of the past and move ahead. Good luck:P

No doubt you are right. This was my first time and believe me that its like a burden on my head that I gave him bribe on his demand........
This system can't be changed by cosmetic changes...... Some kind of revolution is needed......

Agar laws ka itna hi khayal hai to ye log aisi guidelines wala koi kitabcha kyun nai detay..... Inhain pata hai k aisa karnay par inka 2 number kaam nai chalay ga.

Unfortunately that is true. As Eid will come nearer we will hear many such cases by our police force

I totally understand. If you want to go by real and legal Kitabcha.. You will be more upset. Because than you will complaint about lot of other stuff.. Like getting stopped for blown bulb. Or even loud exhaust and so on..

Here in karachi police walas only stops tinted vehicles.
Blind waley ko tang nahe karte.
Also in karachi now a days police is not messing too much with people just because law and order situation in karachi is very bad
almost 8 to 10 target killings per day, so they are really scared.

i have been through the same but i had my shades on as my mother and sisters were with my and for the sake of privacy and the heat i put them up.
I was stop at the naka before Gulzaire quid he also did something very stupid by forcing to open the doors i told him politely that there are my family members but he would not stop saying blinds Utaro i took them off my self and he took them from my hands, and said give 600rs for the blinds i was like WTF and fingered him and said BLINDS 400rs kae hain pas raklo or maze karo..:P..
ever since i have tints on the back windows when i pass them i just lower the front..

Nowadays i have heard and seen that the Islamabad Traffic Police is also in Action earning all the Eidi they could. IMO ITP is better than the police because atleast they try to correct the Traffic situation.

But the Islamabad Police in just plain pain in the A**.

I myself was stopped on the Faisal Avenue checkpoint although i had about 5 friends in car. The tulla asked that "where were you going" and i told him that to Hardees and along came a stupid question that "what are you going there for"..:-/. Khair after checking car papers he just let me go.

The nakas are just another side job for the tullas of Islamabad.

we are to blame first of all
we dont carry papers/id
we know black tints are not allowed and shades are not allowed(they should be able to see inside the car for security reasons)
our cars have stupid fancy plates
we want to drive on high beams for no apparent reason
we dont wear seat belts(i saw a police man literally politely begging a guy to put his belt on and he was giving stupid counter arguments)

if we fix ourself, police has nothing much to say to us. i work in odd times and go through these check points daily
be polite to them. they would be polite in return

if u give them a chance/excuse breaking a law or something, they wont spare u!
