The rims are destroyed IMO with such coarse tooling, the proper tooling is with very very fine tools to give a satin finish, such coarse tooling causes major fatigue problems as the edges that they have left are ideal stress points for cracks to begin forming.

Yes painting would be 10 hours labour but they would be worth it.

I've been seeing a lot of these kind of wheels all over Karachi and wondered where this sudden surge of shiny new looking wheels came from. These are in every other wheel shop. The shop people usually brand them as new Chinese wheels but apparently, these are refurbished and 'destroyed' old wheels.

@RM, shop is right next to the bridge of "ganda naala" on sultan ka khoo road. dont forget to take a paper clip to close ur nose to avoid the bad smell!

this took 3 hours. then i drove to another place to tool the rotors.another 2 hours.
painting rims means atleast 10 hours work (i am no longer 20 years old sadly )

@xain i am sure they would turn out to be really good!

U have wasted ur 3 hr's on tooling, wasted ur money and in the process totaled the rims should have given them to a good painter for a paint job.

And I think 13' is so undersize for a City.

But zara c jhalak se I can safely say that ur car is super clean but in desperate need of good shoes.

everybody loves 17 rims with 205 tyres and a dropped car
but
my cars suspension is soft, tyres are very cheap to change, and consumption out of this world. in short is a practical daily runner.
I know 2 other guys who did this with their rims. Rims never cracked.no balancing issues ever.

plus these rims cost me 7600 rupees and they are not chinese. anyone saying these rims are ruined, please offer me a better set in the same price range ?

I know people who were shot at close range and they are alive, it does not guarantee that you never die if you get shot.

Aluminium rim restoration is never quick and cheap. And speaking of Pakistani style of quick and cheap with rims, Ive seen rim shops in the Karachi junkyard market tool some very nice 2 piece BBS rims. I saw them on display for about 2 years and they never ever sold. I think that people who would actually buy them know that the shop owner has ruined the wheels beyond repair

Maybe he is among the ones who didn't die even after being shot at a close range.
If he is not having any issues with the restoration then I think it is fine. If he faces any, I am sure he will himself come up and inform everyone.

The used rims i purchased had alot of stains on them. everyone who saw the car pointed out the rims, so i finally decided to get them fixed. i found a shop which polishes and fixes alloy rims in sultan ka khoo. i thought they would buff it but they said they tool the rims to give it a new look. settled for 1600 rupees for 13" rims.
After picture was taken in dark(does not justify how they look in real). the rims look brand new now otherwise

well it all depends wat do u want n how much u wanna spend on ur rims, its my elder bro car last year v faced the same situation, had 2 options either buff or repaint, trust me tooling is not a gud option, no doubt its cheap but it will decrease the strength of the rims plus the cuts make the surface luk v odd, buff costing 1000 rs/rim as well as bake paint. we opt 4 bake paint from a renowned rim/tyre shop (continental tyres) @ tariq road, they charged 1000rs/rim, scratched the rims with sand paper applied a thin base coat n then bake paint all rims, result is infront of u, no1 can say its remake even if u look closely.

rims look better now than they did before. but i wonder how much structural strength was sacrificed in the tooling process.

i think a lot of people owe u a treat ... i'm dead sure these rims won't ever crack at least not because they were polished ... nice job done ..

Looks nice, people are right about the strength reduce if u re machine them but, to be precise there is a tolerance with respect to load, speed and air drag. Which I think is okay in your case. Further it will not deform or something but only fear you can have is god forbid on case getting a jerk or going through pot holes rim may crack, which you can test just to make sure. Systematically car should not bubble if they are machined over copying lathe or CNC as it trims your metal surface equally. I feel no problem with this re finish but better to have premium stuff for your, anyways looking much better than before, gives a fresh look to your beaten up wheels. If you aren't driving too much then it's okay to live with it.
