Altis Cruisetronic RPM issue

I was testing something today and noticed some odd behavior of the RPM of my Altis. Specifically, when I brake and come to a stand still, the RPM increases a little (100rpm), then drops (100rpm) and then increases again (100-150rpm). I have attached a video and this can be seen from 42 secs till 47 secs (ignore the abrupt jump in RPM in the end as I was pushing the acc.)

Can someone tell me what this issue can be? Faulty throttle sensor? Also I feel that throttle is quite sensitive e.g. as you can see in the vid on a couple of instances, the RPM jumps on even a very slight push of acc.

The car in question is a 2010 Altis Cruisetronic and has done 40k km. I will be taking it to Toyota in a day or two for the complete 40k checkup and fluid/parts replacement.

EDIT: Ignore everything above. As it turns out, it is perfectly normal. Checked with Toyota mechanics and also drove another Altis cruisetronic and its normal. As of now, the focus of the thread is on periodic maintenance only.

about the RPM i think it is the problem which was discussed in details in a thread but it was regarding Xli and gli so i think the same problem is there in altis

the problem seems to be a faulty throttle sensor just like u mentioned...get a detailed checkup of ur car's electronics...maybe a short circuit is causing the sensor to behave erratically....just my opinion

in xli and gli this problem was even from a 0 meter car,in this case the checkup is must.i have driven more then 8 altis,never noticed this kind of problem.

GLi & XLi have RPM drop on gear change issue. This is not the problem I am facing.

My issue is that RPM is stable at idle but when I brake to stop the car, the idle RPM fluctuates 2/3 time before becoming stable.

Just talked with the driver and he says its always been like this from the start. During this time, the car has been tuned 2 times and has gone through complete OBD Diagnostics tests. The tests last time correctly identified issues related to ABS sensor and rectified it but nothing came up on Diagnostic tool.

Also let me add here that in the last 1 year, I havn't had the engine compartment washed. Even though I have a ECU cover I do not want to take any risks washing up the engine bay. Can this issue be due to the dirt etc in the engine bay? Because I somewhere read that sensors may act up due to excess dirt.

Plz get ur car`s engine steam washed to clear your doubts.
I cannot go for more then a week without getting this done.

^ dont go for a steam wash before getting the problem diagnosed....plus washing an engine bay without taking proper measures is a very n00bish mistake i must say...u r lucky to have not ended up ruining ur car's ecu

this is not a big problem i think.thats my personel view.i have driven many cars with the same issue but this seems to me normal.if u engine is working fine dont test anything at all.mehcanics are like idiots.anyway 40k is enough milage try to sell it and get new one.

is your car installed with cng or just petrol

if it is cng then go for adjusting the throttle from the throttle control of the cng kit. but if it just petrol then it is problem due to your barkes. check this issue as in idle mode just apply brake and check whether this persists or not.

Throttle issue for sure, either throttle body needs cleaning or TPS issue.

This might not be a problem at all,but,do get your car's engine thoroughly serviced by TOYOTA .(Not washing , it has nothing to do with throttle sensors)
And also you can check whether or not there is a problem by observing engine's RPM behaviour while your engine is idle .(When your car is parked and the engine must be at normal operating temp. at this time i.e above COLD .) Depress the Acc. and observe the RPM gauge.If the same fluctuation happens again then you might need a full engine tuning and servicing IMO.
P.S : Do check your Air filter at the earliest.It might be the only issue.

Not at all. What made you think that way? Infact what I am doing in the vid is completely against the hypermiling. The RPM drop in the end from 5k is because I braked hard, not because I was 'gliding'

Yeah I am also starting to think its not a big issue. I am still getting 11km/ltr in city (which is awesome for a 1800cc automatic car) and amazing performance too. I just don't want it to become a big issue in future if left unattended.

I like your advice regarding replacing the car Problem is I don't have enough cash. But even if I did, I would never go for the 1.6 dual vvti which would be sort of a downgrade in terms of performance. I don't see why anyone who has driven 1800cc would settle for a 1600cc

Yar got the test performed 2 times in the past but it showed up nothing. Btw what did the 40k maintenance cost you? and what was replaced? I am thinking about going to Toyota Garden in the morning

Petrol. RPM is perfectly stable in idle whether brake pedal pressed or not. This issue only arises when I come to a stand still for a signal etc. Only then the RPM fluctuates 2/3 times before becoming stable

Throttle body was cleaned at 30,000km ODO reading and now its at 40,000km. Do you think I should get the throttle body cleaned tomorrow or should I wait till 50k km?

RPM perfectly stable at idle. Yes the airfilter hasn't been cleaned since last 6,000km (that also shows as car is struggling a bit after 4.5k RPM). Will replace it tomorrow

mani the estimate was 26.5k approx but since i got lots of work done in past few days so almost half of the work was already done,i paid about 10.5k for the fuel filter,trany fluid,brake fluid,steering fluid & about i think a lil les than 5k for the ac & steering belt changed & 4.5k for denso ik20 plugs,oil & oil filter change as well.
other than these ull need to
get throttle body serviced,(dont forget to get intake manifold cleaned as well) its a must
brake pads change ,brake service
wheel balancing & alignment
injector cleaning (DONOT buy it from them,they charge u 1.7k for the stp injector cleaner whereas u can get it from the market in a prety cheap price,fill up half tank with octane n add this)
thats about it.
