An Opinion needed from Honda 125 users

I am looking for a new bike in the 125 category. Now i have used Honda 125 myself first a 1982 point model which i kept for 3 years, then bought a new honda 125 in 2004 which blew right after first 1000 kms. I have also used Suzuki GS 150 which by the way i used for 5 years and what a bike it was apart from minor electric problem which i faced at the start. The other problem and a cause of major concern which i realized after the bikes started showing problems was of nonavailability of spares and mechanics who actually understood the bike.
Now i am riding a road prince 70cc which was more of a stop gap till i could actually afford a new bike in the category of 125. Now Alhamdulillah i can which comes back to the purpose of me starting this thread and this by the way is my 1st ever thread on this forum though i have been a member of pakwheels for very long time.

So i need an opinion on the new 125, whether its worth buying. I am no fan of Honda because of their constant deterioration of quality however for some strange odd reason the new 125 in black attracts me. Compared to Suzuki it has better resale and most importantly parts and mechanics are easily available. Whats stopping me is the quality of the bike because of my bad experience with honda i am a bit reluctant.

A valued opinion and suggestions are welcome from the users of the new 125.

U should go for Honda eyes closed if u want quality... the Suzuki gs u purchased were the initial few units which were made of good quality.. after 2007 the quality of Suzuki bikes are constantly deteriorating at a high speed...

U might have had a bad experience with Honda, but the fact is that Honda,s quality control is the best...

In 100 units of Honda, only 1 bike is defective.. whereas in Suzuki 1 or more in every 10 bikes is defective... and getting them repaired is a bug pain!!

Id suggest for buying a new, reliable, low maintenance bike u should go 4 a Honda 125...
But if u want to own a stand out and different/ bigger / comfier bike.. go for GS150...

Getting a used 2007 prior model GS at cheap price and restoring it is also a cheap way to own a reliable GS150... but time and effort is definitely required for that!

I'm a die hard CG125 fan so giving an unbais opinion would be difficult for me. Still I tried:

Honda CG-125 Pros:
Honda enjoys a good resale,
mechanics know how to work on them,
spares are cheap and readily avaliable,
and the built quality is second to none.
CG-125 accelerates faster than any other bike in its category
and have the iconic exhaust note.
11 BHP with a 99kg Dry weight.

Suzuki GS-150 Pros:
Suzuki on the other hand is the most comfortable bike in its class.
It handles better at higher speeds.
GS-150 has a OHC (over head Cam) engine thus engine vibrates less than a CG-125 OHV (Over Head Valve) Engine.
It has electric starter.
12BHP at 116 KG dry weight. (the engine is heavier not the chassis)

Honda CG-125 Cons:
Engine Vibration at Higher RPM is evident.
Unstable at speeds in excess of 100km/hr.

Suzuki GS-150 Cons:
Worth Depreciates exponentially as years pass by.
Expensive Spares.
In general Paint job is not spot on. (look for bubbles on new bikes and you will find them on 5/10 bikes).
Starts to rust quicker than CG-125.
Seating position is high thus not agile.
Lacks an audible engine grunt, feels disconnected.

As your location is lahore you can also consider ravi piaggio 125 for a comfortable and sporty looking bike with options like the gs-150, but resale is not the same as Cg-125.

The cons you mentioned are exactly spot on as i can vouch first hand specially the deprecation part. It decpreciates very quickly. One more thing i thought the new Honda model is more smoother then the previous ones. Does it vibrate the same as previous models? Also since you are die hard fan, whats your opinion on the sound after the bike is driven like 1500 to 2000 kms? Honda is all about sound and unfortunately they start to loose that karak in their sound after a while

Go for CG 125 Euro 2. I have sold my 2007 Cg125 at the end of last year to buy that one and i am very happy with the quality and performance.

Thank you for your opinion brother. But this time i am actually not considering buying GS-150 because it depreciates so quickly and there are no spares or mechanics for the bike. This means i should go for Honda.

i would say its time for something new aka Piaggio
if you like it then why not raise your budget a little and get it???

though i m not pleased with insane prices and downgrading quality of AHL but its a fact that still they offer the best quality and good after sale services among local manufacturers.... i hv ridden euro II and the vibrations on high rpm are noticeably less than previous models...

If you are planning to go for a Euro-II CG-125 then please know that Euro-II exhaust note is slightly lower than previous models. I think thats because Euro-II has a bigger Catalytic Converter (Jaali) in the exhaust which restricts the flows and makes the bike a little bit quieter.

I dont agree with the exhaust note loosing its sharpness after 2,000km. Shoro may tow bike ko rawan kerna hota hai. The tappats are loose and they rattle. The engine has to break-in in the beggining and the real sound starts to evolve after 1,500KM of running. Engine Karak rahay ga tow sound bhi karak rahay gee. Take care of the engine and the sound will takecare of itself.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes if i buy 125, it will be the new euro 2 model. What you mentioned above about the sound i have noticed it 2 but then i thought maybe its because of the low quality, the bikes are loosing its sound. Again i think its because of my personal bad experience, i think of it the same for every other honda.

Bro, forget all second thoughts...
Go for the new CG125 euro 2. It's the best option currently...

And on my advise,
Please, don't forget to insure your bike because CG125 (especially black) is very attractive in the eyes of snatchers and robbers in Lahore. Baqi Allah kher karega!

Go for CG125 Euro II, Don't worry Atlas honda Bikes quality is very good
and these are the best motorcycles avaialble in terms of quality
yes they are expensive than other bikes but they are known for reliability

I visited the Honda Atlas Manufacturing plant last month so anyone who want to discuss anything related to quality can ask me.
They have the monitoring and Quality checking equipment worth several crores. Thats what gives us such good quality that weather you change oil on time or not the engine never dies.

Please confirm, I have heard that each and every bike produced by AHL is tested physically on test track
with full throttle and it does not require any such running or break-in engine???
