the problem is resolved on its own... something certainly got wet and after some days it dried and back to normal. But i wonder what might be it?

Well i suspect something that effects timing and that is something Crank or Cam sensor

Dear PW members and @Xulfiqar, I have Mitsubishi EK Wagon. Couple of days back My car was hit at bottom. After that my car started to give very bad and heavy sound like Ghooooooo Ghooooooo while on speed.

Car became heavy and consumed fuel like hell, I took it to Silencer wala as I thought my car's silencer was making noise. The Silencer wala told that the filter from where the silencer is attached to engine is choked, I didn't know much about it. I thought he might be right as it was very big shop. He had to remove the filter from Engine where the silencer is attached. While removing he asked me to go away because it will start itching on my skin. I refused and he kept working. After thoka thaaki for almost 15 minutes or so, he took out sand like stuff with some foam like stuff (Definitely it was a filter which was not anymore) and he started the car for almost 5 minutes, he connected each and everything back. The sound of car little increased but car was like flying but the Engine Check light is now constantly on, I dont know what can be the problem. Did he remove the Catalytic Convertor from the car or is this something else?

Well brother i wish your Catalytic converter has a breach. Now that sand like material is ceramic. It may be choked but you now need an emulator for secondary o2.

Thanks bro for suggesting replacement of only valve seals of my khyber 99 for problem of oil consumption. My mechanic insisted to change rings also but i sticked to ur advise and replaced only valve seals and problem of oil consumption is gone. Thanks once again

Lesson learnt for others, if your car smokes on cold start and it is kind of bluish smoke and you are noticing gradual reduction in oil then most probably your valve seals are shot. No need to replace rings, as will be suggested by our mechanics. And rings replacement requires proper honing, which is not usually done by mechanics here. So one may take chance to replace only valve seals in order to avoid problem of oil consumption.

you are most welcome. There is also a correct way to install valve seals, I like to use a wide milk shake straw so I can slip the seal over the valve stems - this prevents tearing of the seal. I also like to dip them in some full synthetic oil and use a deep socket to seat them firmly and easily on the guide.

@xulfiqar, on the m111 engine there is no sealing ring present behind the magnet? mine seems to have a slow leak from the cam magnet does it leak from the magnet where it attaches to the engine or form the rubber plug in front of it? i have ordered a new magnet, rubber plug and the updated wiring harness, will that stop the leak? as i was wondering there is no sealing ring behind the magnet like on m271.

the magnet is the actuator itself, replacement is not that hard - follow the service manual - in most cases the wiring harness sucks on the oil, best to repalce that O ring seal and get the isolation wiring piece aka pigtail harness and install it.

to bed in any brakes - I simply ride the brakes with accelerating engine and then cool down the brakes by driving some more, you may smell the brakes in this process - do that once or twice and everything will be set, Even after bedding in keep a gentle touch on the brakes for 200 kms - it ensures excellent pad/disc mating.

bump in there service manual it doesnt say o ring is present in case of m111 engine, but it says apply sealing material, whats the appropriate sealing material on a MB?

btw one problem with this particular bed in method on a mercedes is that as soon as i tired riding the brakes the car almost came to a halt, it cuts out the accelerator.

what does this mean?

catalytic converter has been removed ... now there is no hindrance in exhaust pressure .. need to create resistance .. either get a used CAT from somewhere or install a small muffler assembly .. otherwise ur engine noise will remain increased and some missing in idling is likely, plus the check light

@xulficar Bro I am not new to engines but new to efi engines & there trouble shooting. I have liana 2010 model first it gavecheck light then Suzuki people told me it's oxygen sensor, I put new oxygen sensor of 18.5 k from 3s, now check light is gone.
But its eating to much petrol and cng now but with previous sensor (when check light was not on) consumption is ok . I see some video of lien mixture & stft & Ltft & diganosing the fuel eating problem. But I dont know what to say Suzuki people to check or tell me some economical efi workshop in rawalpindi, i am in hassan abdal, and dont know any good efi digonosing work shop, only knows Suzuki taxila & Attock Motors.
They attach a teck 2 to car and say that no error code ur car is ok. They say we can't reduce petrol or cng, it mean they donot have checking facility or technique of fuel trim !
Plz guide me what to say to Suzuki people what to check or todo ?
And 2ndly any other good efi garage near hassanabdal to pindi.

sealant for mercedes benz engines loctite 5800

its good stuff, but requires 4 hours set time before engine start - as usual shahnawaz ltd will look at you like you have a horn growing out of your forehead if you ask for it.

other choices

toyota 103 FIPG (toyota uses this to seal the sumps, timing cases and almost everything on the engine) - this is also called threebond 1207B - set time is 30 minutes - engine can be put in service after that.

Hondabond engine sealant - aka threebond 1107 - its runny but good stuff - Honda uses it on their cars and also motorcycle engine casings. If the dealer says they never heard of it - ask what is put on the engines when they are assembled - its also in their parts catalogs.

General Motors engine sealant - this is threebond 1207 in gray colour, (I use this all the time due to its colour and almost guarantee for no leaks) - setup time is 15 minutes - engine can be put in service in 30.

call up a toyota dealer and ask them for the sealant - if they dawdle and recommend to use bathroom silicone - ask them for this recommendation on dealer letterhead signed by the service manager.

the Tech2 system can show you literally everything on the car including ABS, radio, door locks etc etc, if your car is dumping fuel and they could not understand what is wrong with it then go ask for your money back and send a letter to PS in Karachi to argue this stupidity.

The fuel trims are in plain sight on almost any OBD scanner, the difference between long and short term is that the short term happens instantly, the long term is measuring how much time the short term stays at a given point. Its also very useful to test if you have an unmetered fuel problem in your car like leaking or stuck injector (excessive injector cleaning can cause injectors to wear out). I cannot point a shop in rwp - but there are good smart people on this forum board who can.

I had a steering rack replaced recently, all was good till week, but when it started to loosen the SETBACK appear.

did you actually measure the runout of the disc? Any other information like brake caliper sticking or pads not moving freely in the holder.

If the wheel is shifted back - the caster angle is completely messed up, get it corrected.

Check for freeplay at the inner tie rod - it was a weak item in the E80 corolla.

I did went there today they used this
it was black in color and they let it set for 20 min. seems innocent enough. If not I'll get to form Toyota and have it re done.

Btw they applied the sealing material on the old cam magnet and put it back as after removing it halfway they realised that there isn't enough clearance to remove it as the thermostat housing was in the way and they didn't have new o rings if they were to disassemble the housing. Infact what seemed like a simple job three senior techs were stumped by it. In the end they took pictures of the engine bay and the long cylinder housing which has the Coolant sensor and pipe going to the coolant resorvoir and said they would email the pictures to Germany and ask for guidance. The part number on housing was not showing up on EPC. So they cleaned and degreaser everything and put it back snd didn't charge me anything except the line adapter that I had installed to prevent any damage because of oil travelling in wires. They said to drive for a few days meanwhile they'll get a reply from Germany then see what to do

No, I did not measure the runout of disk. I am sure it is the brake rotor at fault, but a new replacement was not available so opted for kabuli one.

I get my car aligned almost every six-eight months, but setback thing re-appeared, need to know what part do i need to replace.

Inner tie rod, it is a replaceable item??

lol - senior techs not accustomed to workign on this engine? are they from the WW2 era of Mercedes? On your engine the thermostat housing is in the way - it needs removal to make space - a good cleaning of the surfaces is mandatory to make the sealant stick.

btw - this sealant is loctite 5800 - MB sells it like this and charges extra money for the package. I prefer the General Motors/AC delco sealant - it seals up better.

I have packed 2 M272 engines with it (balancer shaft issues) - and one with toyota FIPG - the GM one was nicer because it stays in place where I put it and doesnt look ugly when the job is finished.

the trick is to be consistent and lay a 2mm bead as required

Btw thank god I had meguiars super degreaser with me form which to clean that area

I saw them using pure petrol to clean the engine bay of a 2014 s400 hybrid. They say that petrol is most safest as it evaporates and it doesn't damage any rubber parts as they quickly dry it with compressed air throughly and cover up all the painted parts

Still I know diesel and oil is bad but petrol seemed just as bad too no? The way they were literally squirting it over the engine and rubbing with a brush.
