the only few manufacturers providing a live temperature gauge for the engine coolant are all german ones and GM and Ford in USA. Its quite common for customers to come in complaining of "mera engine garam horaha hai" when they see it going beyond half sweep on the gauge.. when its completely normal and under control.
In japanese builds - the gauge is a three position system, cold, normal, headgasket blown..
customers dont complain on that - and thats why honda and some other manufacturers actually removed the temperature gauge altogether - na rahe baans na bajay baansuri.
e.g. in mercedes benz the 50% point is 80C, the 70% point is 100C...
100C is not considered overheating but you would see a line of customers coming in complaining - 'LOOK - the engine is overheating'
