I want to install a valve in my margalla to open or close coolant supply to the heater core. I read on the interwebs that such a thing exists in some cars.
Is there anything that i can buy off the shelf in pakistan for the purpose?
It's called thermostat valve. U can easily buy it at any parts shop. Won't cost u above 1500 for genuine. Must install it plus get a good genuine coolant for about 700/L

maybe you misunderstood what i am saying. My car already has a thermostat valve. I want a manual hand operated valve to block the heater core in summers and open it in winters
Sorry my bad. Off the shelf item will b difficult, for all such type of retrofitting u will have to source different relevant parts urself and produce a working solution. Best of luck
I have an idea for that. Simple valve that is used in plumbing, and add barb fittings to its end to make it work with the coolant pipe. I will take a sample of the pipe with me to the hardware store

My civic 02 has that heater valve that closes to stop circulating coolant on heater core when knob is set at cold air.
If you could connect to your hot/cold air lever/knob...
that sounds really encouraging. even if i make it work manually(not with the knob) it will work for me. I only want to open or close it depending on the season
Look for indua corolla valve,would be cheap and easily available in the market..Btw why do you want to do that??If your car is running with tap water,don't do this

what does tap water have to do with this? just curious
my hvac box is leaky(leaks air) and i don't have time to fix it, so i am blocking the heater core

i'm not installing the valve for the above reason.
i know that.i am just telling you that if are running tap water in your engine,the heater core would be leaking soon due to the water trapped in the core.

minimum grade allowed in my owner's manual is 0w20
As per my understanding, its not the min grade. Specifically the allowed grades are mentioned. Otherwise there is no point mentioning the range with specific items.
water in radiator has coolant which is anti freeze and anti rust, apart from other things, so how does tap water mixed in coolant make a radiator leak .. please explain
A similar item is used in cng kit .. these r sturdy valves which will withstand leakages and aging .. try getting a used valve from cng workshop
these valves are used to shift from petrol to gas and vice versa .. a lever is also attached for manual operation in case electronics fails

i heard auto paint selling shops have digital scanners .. u take fuel lid along and they scan and give u a code .. if paint of same code is not available then they mix and make similar paint out of experience .. paint selling shops r mostly in saddar area .. ahead of ghakkar plaza thee is a cinema .. adjacent to cinema is a road where u will find 2 or 3 paint shops ... do consult a good painter as well
