I know the daewoo racer was imported in the original nawaz sharif yellow cab scheme along with a ton of other cars, like toyo corona, hyundai excel, nissan cedric, benz E200D, suzuki alto, mitsi lancer (lime colour), dai coure, peugeot - etc etc.
and I can tell you with 2000% certainity that daewoo racer has absolutely nothing similar to any japanese car, its a clone of Opel Kadett 1.5 but with a Delphi low pressure TBi system from USA.
The hyundai excel was a mitsi lancer clone.
the reason it was considered odd was
1 - it uses non japanese size nuts.bolts - meaning instead of 12mm it has 13mm, instead of 14mm it has 15 or 16mm, instead of 17 it uses 18mm, instead of 19 it uses 21mm etc. etc. just like european and american cars.
its diagnosis tools were a bit obtuse but very easy as its OBD1 General Motors an old Hewlett Packard Tech I or TechII talk to that car or you can use the blinky sequence.
Its wiring was typical GM also, including the tyco and siemens relays.
Pakistani mechanics are not accustomed to anything else than usual japanese stuff - they dont even own the spanners required to work on anything else.
Heck they dont even know what a GM bypass ignition system is, the ignitor starts the engine without ECU assistance.. and they usually damage a replacement ignitor as they dont know it requires a heatsink paste.
