AssalamoAlaikum.. Pakwheelers I need your help, I have a Toyota corolla altis 2010 model which I purchased in 2015 having 60000 km on odo.. I had no prior experience of purchasing cars and I think I was fooled with regards to the odometer and general condition of the vehicle.. Right after the purchase I went for oil change and changed to fully synthetic 10-30 I guess.. The car ran fine consumption improved but occasionally the engine used to shut off showing low oil pressure.. I changed the engine oil brand to caltex and low oil pressure error disappeared.. Right noe since last 1 year the engine has lost its power , acceleration and consumption has decreased to 11kmpl to around 8 .. There is also a rattling noise on pressing the pedal with noticeable vibration along with grunt .. I have got its throttle body , injectors cleaned right after the purchase.. My mechanic who is a very honest person told me that it's the sound of connecting rods and crank shaft and needs an overhaul.. The Toyota dealership I visited told me to get the engine replaced from shershah literally without touching the vehicle .. I am in a fix.. I need your help and advice..

There is no smoke .. Engine oil decreases on 4000 km almost quarter litre .. But the car decreases radiator water noticeably .. My 1991 corolla doesn't decrease water even for stretch of 6 months ..

I also faced same problem with engine years ago. Dont ever go for an overhaul, that wont last even for couple odmd thousand kilometers.
Engine change is an option but if the car only consuming a quater liter on 4000km that non of an issue. If you are able to drive with that noises go ahead there is no problem in that, usually that sound comes from head area not from block.
As far as low oil pressure is concerned thats an issue but that might be a faulty guage.
But oil pumps dont die often in these engine.

In my opinion you may change your car than changing engine cz it would be a great hassle, these engines are not that cheap too.
On other hand after changing engines, you have to face resales issues in future.

I cannot sale the car at least in this condition .. It will be fraud on my part..money and luxuries can come and go but havent done it ever and will not do it in future .. I can't keep on driving like this.. I am an adventure loving guy.. Keep my cars maintained and drive them extensively.. Last month I took it to 400km road trip and it was struggling .. Did not shut off but the power j used to get from 1.8 isn't there anymore

If you are not interested go for an engine swap, it would costs you around 70k with your old engine. Then it would be hassle free. Be careful while buying new engine.

As far as option of sale is considered. There are many dealers in market who buy car from you in this state, get the work done themselves and then sell again for some profit for their bread n butter.

So no fraud on your part..

Thanks for your suggestion. But why replace it AND how to test its/check it if this is necessary ?

ps: Idle rpm very much in range , checked using HDS showing now check light or error codes..... !

oh please, its totally illogical to bury any part without knowing its dead, so if you dont know how to check/test it, simply state you dont know, instead of passing final judgement.

Ok, perhaps this is logical:

A vacuum leak at the throttle body is “unmetered” air that is not measured by the MAF and leans out the fuel mixture. The car will respond by dumping fuel in an attempt to bring the mixture up, and the impact on fuel economy will be evident.

So, check for vacuum leaks. Maybe you are lucky.....Replace the O-ring and see.

then Why is the engine sound still normal and idel rpm also normal.... Would this "unmetered air" not affect the Idle RPMs and engine sound while driving ?

Will the Honda Diagnostic Tool (HDS) show this problem ?

If yes, what parameters should we look for to identify that unmetered air is entering into the fuel mixture ?

I think this model's engine has hydraulic lifters.
If it does, the rattling noise could be one or more bad lifter. Check and replace if necessary.

Bad lifter can cause those rattling issues.
Which 10w30 oil did you pour in before? And which caltex is in there now?

Also, what's in the radiator? Only water?

Throttle relearn needs to be performed via a good enough scantool.

@Xulfiqar brother I'm looking to invest in a tool that can do throttle and CVT learn procedures (at least), as well as abs/srs/ and possibly HVAC modules on these pkdm and JDM vehicles. Your suggestions? Your inbox is consistently inaccessible. Any other comms method?

Get the high and low side pressures checked when this happens. Also watch what happens to the pressure while the compressor has tripped.

There could be an issue of a faulty high/low pressure safety switch. It could also simply be a low referigerant quantity issue.

It could also be other issues such as a bad compressor clutch coil. When it's tripped, see if hotwiring the compressor clutch engages it or not. If it still engages, that should rule out a bad clutch coil.

thanks sir, in islamabad , i got it checked from abubakar, universal car a/c, he said gas is upto the mark, pressure is good as well. regarding coil they dint give any detail, as it do engages on it on will. i visited some other he said A/C controller card (A/C computer) is bad, i dint believe him. i visited other he said ur button light is on, but it not relaying the on signal to compressor. so he gutted it open, cleaned and soldered something as he said, and after that it started turning on and off but for some time, but again after like 5 to 6 hours it started giving me trouble. i m so confused to change the card(3500), bello(1000), or button pannel(4500)?

for now its working, as i have found a juggar that ionce a/C was on i dun turn it off from button, i control it with Fan speed control knob. and if occasionaly some one pushes the button it do turns on/off the A/C. but i am controling it from fan speed. and i think its not bad to assume the button is faulty not completely but partially.
