Auto Choke for Electric Generator

AoA friends,

I want to know any ideas to make an auto choke for my home generator. I have an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) installed which turns on/off the 3KVA generator. I am running my generator on natural gas but I always need to choke the gas kit every time. This is the common gas kit with a nail shape choke usually installed on most generators.

I want to know if there is any cheap and easy way to perform this manual choke work automatically?

Please provide guidance if anyone have information about this.

dude u just need a japanese spark plug adjusted at 0.4mm
and a modified ngkit
u dont need any auto choke for starting and running ur genny on ng there's a whole thread goin on how to modify ur ng kit/make ats/make auto choke for petrol...

Thanks a lot 'hanimughal' bro! I looked thoroughly to the thread you menioned and its really helpful and interesting!

The issue I have is that if I press the NG gaskit's choke or will fix it through the bolt, the gas starts running and leaks from the airfilter box. In this case I cannot use a bolt that will press the plate inside the gaskit. Do I need to change the gaskit?

ur welcome,
are u using ATS? if you press the button on Ngkit it pushes the rubber seal inside,and it passes the gas thats normal, it is only leaking after pressing the button right?is ur gas venturi at right place?

brother you had to use that bolt and along with it you need this gas cut off solenoid

and a small curcuit that will allow the gas to flow when wapda light goes and will block the gas when wapda light comes...

just needed to reconfirm few things befo i suggest ,
@athershah,that bolt is to pass the gas it needs some adjustment according to ur generator..
and then u have to use this solenoid valve on ur gas line .. so it will only turn ur gas on after getting ON signal from ur ATS.

This solenoid valve idea was there in my mind too and this can be the logical solution! I will look for it in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi market.

@hanimughal: Yes bro I am using the ATS and I think if a solenoid valve is there then we do no need the typical gaskits as we can use a small 50Rs valve to control the gas pressure before the solenoid. I have the provision of 'Battery + -', 'Self', 'Gas Valve' and 'Engine Off' connections in my ATS board. So your suggestion sounds very likely that I can use the 'Gas Valve' spot for the solenoid to on and off. Please correct me if I am wrong. About the gas adjustement according to generator need, I got it from your detailed posts in the other thread and it seems like the generator is getting desired gas supply. I will make sure that the gas is according to your suggested way (about 4 inch flame if lit).

yeah bro ur welcome..
if possible do test ur ats Ng point before making connections..
it should start giving positive from the time of starting till ur light comes back...
and 3.5inches to 4inch flame was for 2.5 kva if its 5kva u need more flame..
well u can adjust it according to ur generators need,what are u using for changeover?if possible
share ur ATS with price
