Automatic Transmission Oil

I have an Query regarding Automatic Transmission Oil as i ve bought Vitz and i needed to change the Gear Oil ..
1.. Which Oil should i go for
2.. Should i change the oil and drained out previous one

Bro just go to a 3S Toyota and have it changed if you have just bought it and not sure when was it changed last. Otherwise your tranny can develop problems and it is very expensive to repair auto trannies. 3S will recommend the fluid too.

I agree with the above, take your vitz to any Toyota dealer, they know this car best, and have all the fluids changed.

any Type 4 gear oil will do.

boss you r rite but u know dealers are just a waste of money they do nothing special as an ordinary workshop does that's the reason i m asking to you guys suggest me some better opinion rather than visiting to Toyota dealers

Dear Vitz has 2 kind of Automatic Trasmissions
Electroincally controlled Automatice Gear
CVT (Constant veriable Transmission)

Use ZIC ATF which is most advance ATF in Pakistan and along with also perform its ATF filter clean from some expert mechanic

dude go for caltex texamatic ..............
n em warning u in advance NEVER drain out auto gear fluid as it completely ruins ur gear calibrations n stuff ........... i knw this as a fact as it has happened to me..............

^^ that only happens if youre auto tranny has black thick fluid in it - the dirty fluid then is actually the friction material that makes the clutches bite.

Also if you put some fake brand ATF in there - it will swell up the O rings everywhere and you have a transmission full of neutrals.

Changing the fluid is easy - if its not very bad -just drain and refill the pan, remove oil cooler line and start car - pour in fluid while the transmission pumps it out - it will completely replace all fluids

what if the fluid is very bad...my 03 vti is long overdue for a ATF change and the fluid maybe very dark and think..should i drain it or not then?

plus i was thinking of Zic ATF.would that be the right option?

if the model is 99-2004 THEN Use original D4 toyota transmission oil dont go for any other brand like zic DONT know abt CVT transy which came in 2005 onwards

In the mean while my Vitz on petrol and yesterday the check engine light was pop-up in the car while coming back to home and suddenly when i saw i stop the car and turn it off after 5 min i ll start it again then its gone can any one help me is there any serious problem..

thanx man for helping another toyota personal would advise me for this which gear oil you have u have suggested me thats really bad to go for Zic and this type of oils because changing the gear oil viscosity may damage your gear box..

Zic transmission fluid (like almost every other transmission fluid in PK) meets all the requirements for toyota gearboxes,.. and sometimes exceeds them.

Zic is a HUGE brand and makes high quality products, i know this first hand as they are my competitors. normally i'd stay out of a topic where they are being discussed (professional courtesy) but i feel that bashing a superior brand is not fair in this case and will take their side.

I've personally used their ATF fluid in one of our cars and it was damn good.

pull dipstick and check the fluid - if its really really dark and thick - dont change it - run it till the transmission dies itself. If its not so dark - like grayish with a little bit of particulate matter in it change it and use whatever compatible fluid there is - the ZIC one works great I know for sure so does the Emarat one in the 4 litre pack - but thats rated at Dexron IID - best for oldschool automatics

Umer 12: i think get it checked by good mechanic may be it needs replacement use ZIC ATF- GL 4 or ATF-GL5 these are good
