I have some queries for 1.6 which i hope that you may answer.

a. being 4 speed automatic, do you feel the need of 5 speed automatic at speed above150?

b. what is better in terms of resale after 4-5 years ( Altis1.6, Gli, Altis cvti)?

I dont have a Corolla, but whenever I drive any car with 4 speed transmission on highways, I always feel the need for 5th gear, as the revs stay quite high at highway speeds. The 5th or 6th gear are perfect match for these situations to keep the rpm below 2k mark.

Brake fluid should be flushed and replenished every 40,000 kms or one year. About brake service at 10,000 kms, even if you do not do any service, your brakes may work till a couple of lakhs kms, so is the case with other preventive maintenance. Cleaning and inspecting the brakes keep potential breakdowns away.

Periodic maintenance keeps your car always in 100 percent working condition and minimises the risks of brake downs and even accidents due to brake, suspension failure.

I was doing some reading on this topic once again for some odd reason.

In summary, there is no cleaning on disc brakes setup, as they go clean themselves, as they are applied.
There may be a slight requirement in drum brakes due to their enclosed nature, but not necessary by any means.

a. Hardly drive so fast so don't feel the need for fifth gear though more the merrier.

b. Gli is best in terms of resale. But Altis is more fun.

In our heavy dusty, humid environment, there is no harm to have brake svc at 10k kms.

Doubt if your environment is dustier or more humid than where I live, but ok.

Please be very, very careful while testing your top speed. 170-180 km/h is a piece of cake for 1.6. On Friday I found Expressway clear for miles and floored it and within secs it reached up to 180 after which I slowed down as you never know who jumps in on the road from the median. People are in habit of crossing Expressway by foot even when they are under the pedestrian bridges.

Please dont do it with euro 2
I have a really bad expericne with these tyres. I got gli 2013 new. And after 3k kms i was driving on expressway when suddenly the lady in front of me braked immidietely because of a plastic triangle placed on expressway(at that time they had blocked the right most lane for emergency lane ) i was atleast 100 metres behind on 60-70 and braked and you will be amazed the abs didnt worked at all and the car slipped like there was no abs at all. And i went into the car in front. The car in front just got a minor push in bumper which immidietly fixed. But i changed my tyres to dunlop 702 the very next day. And after that advan db.

I drive cautiously and even at non-abs famous for skidding 9th Gen Xli, I drove for 10 years, I had many skids but never hit any vehicle in front of me even with EuroKlass directional tires. On same car I also used Dunlop Eco and Yokohama, did not feel any difference.

For the past 13 years I have a wide experience with General Tires, Euro Star etc, never had any incident. Most of the cars belonging to friends and family have Euros. Several of our office field cars have run more than 85,000 kms across Pakistan in all these years without any incident, skid or hit. These tires are fine.

Accidents, skids do happen with imported tires as well because there are other factors involved. It is not just tires.

Depends, if power wise, no. Economy wise, yes, noise wise, yes as I am used to quieter vehicles. If compared to speed manuals, noise wise, not much difference. Speeds above 150, well if you compare it with the 1.3, you won't miss it, with the cvt, you will.

As for resale, one can never be too sure, but for the next 2 years, gli, then 1.6, followed but cvt

Totally agree with you, as there are many factors involved, if a car skids. Quality and treadwear of tires, road surface (tarmac) quality, road wetness, car brakes, driver alertness, etc etc.

In all of these, I believe from personal experience, car brakes and tires are the 2 most important things which can be the difference between someone's life and death.

Even under 150, around 100-120 mark, the engine is over working in 4rth gear. Slide it into 5th gear and you can feel the noise go down. Ofcourse, the fuel consumption, engine life and many other things come in play as well.

Ever wonder, why all major manufacturers have 8 speed transmissions these days.

Disc brakes have several parts that need to be cleaned and lubricated: Caliper sliding pins, pads locator pins, anti-rattle clips, sliding contacts, and anti-squeal shims. Also, rear disc brakes that have internal drums for the handbrake need their own service periodically.

My Car ODO is 15k kms now.
I only done 1st checkup of 1000 kms.
Never done tuning or check up by Toyota again.I care only the Oil Filters etc.
All are going good Masha Allah.

Hi Everyone,

I have bought new 1300cc this month and wanted to have Islamabad Registration & number.

Can anyone tell me whats the procedure to do it as I dont want to involve any agent.

Also how much is registration cost? How much more i need to pay if i get some unique number? When will i get the orignal number plate? and other helpful information if any.
