Because it takes into account those moments you spent at the signals (0kms/hr) and your accelerations from gear 1 and slow moving in busy traffic and so on. It's the gross average, inclusive of slowest drive in city traffic also.

Come on, I hope you didn't believe Volverine bro cruising at below 40 and spent a day and a half reaching Peshawar and back again, hahahaha!

year of travel was 1992. started my journey from abbottabad filled the fuel tank and refueled the tank peshawar chamkani.
total liters consumed : 6.5 litre

car, toyota corolla 84 model with replaced engine 1800 cc. 8 valve.

i misss those days. Mk2 is very good vehicle and if yo dont push it hard it should give you a good milage... specially going from abbottabad to peshawar with smooth drive.

With this average 70 liter fuel should take it to 1232 kms, why the range is only shown 449 km.

My point is the same this is instantaneous average, may be downhill or no foot on throttle for long after making a momentum.

Wen i was going to lahore in september i full the tank i went to lahore via motorway and then came back in one full tank wid AC
Mansehra to lahore is 500+km

Going to lahore wen i full the tank reading of range was 670 smthing i reached to lahore remaining range was at that time 364
Lahore is 500+km from mansehra

boy i still wont believe until u showed me urself.....i ve seen in the markx forums of singapore/malaysia where markx is very popular...anyhow they put 98+ RON octane fuel which is higher octane than our high octane fuel.....these guys have travelled from singapore to malaysia from markx from full to empty tank they were doin 700+km but not more than 1000km n tht too on 98 ron octane....our engine is same from lexus is250 n even in US everyone do 400+miles from full to empty.....so either ur engine is working like hybrid or u r filling with magical fuel!!

@salik990 : this car really is quite economical...

i went all the way from kalma chowk to shaukat khanam and the range meter only moved 2kms where as the distance i covered was over 10-15kms or so. (in 300g)
Of course i drove with a very light foot, but its still quite impressive.
On normal heavy traffic city driving, it gave 8-10 avg/liter and on motorway, 10-12km/l .

14km/l for 250g is reasonable. It can achieve it on motorway. If urs is not giving the economy i told (8-10km in city traffic driving), then get it checked or maybe press the accelerator very lightly. This car is very efficient.
And the range meter is not 100% correct, it gives range based on manufacturer's calculated efficiency which is often lower to make sure customers dont have too high expectations..

and considering it has 70l capacity (i think) and taking 12km/l avg on highway, it should have max range of about 840km. This is for the 300g.
