Thanks @Xulfiqar
but what about the cloud of smoke that comes out at higher (4500+) rpm ? Can it be related to the vvti system?
the issue has existed for 2 years now .. when i first experienced it, i showed it to multiple mechanics who recommended engine swap as the only way out. since then , the car has done about 22k km without much drama except topping up oil at 1k intervals. and being slow-ish
1 litre per 5000 km maybe within range of acceptability, but it wasnt happening before 2018. I have owned the car since it was imported here and there wasn't much oil consumption between oil changes, if any at all.
In 2016, before going on long road trip i asked my mechanic to check the cvt oil. The half wit drained some oil and then proceeded to add much more than what was required. He filled it up to the fill nut, like you do in manual transmissions or diffs... The car ran on that much excessive cvt fluid for whole 2 years before i was faced with the oil burning issue and i thought i would try to make the engines journey to the after life easier by improving others areas like fresh cvt fluid, spark plugs, got the catalytic converter cleaned, installed narrower tyres when time came for their replacement
So i replaced the cvt fluid with the proper procedure, and it significantly reduced the load on the car.
