IMO, you should only use 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline, or preferably, 10w-40 fully synthetic by ZIC. Just ensure that oil is 100% authentic.

IMO, you should only use Toyota Genuine filters, be them air filter, oil filter, etc.

Guard filters may be sincerely avoided.

Toyota recommended oil filter change is at 15000km, or 7500km under heavy conditions. Same for oil filter.

Anyone following these guidelines in Pakistan? I am particularly interested in changing oil filter on every alternate drain.

I've been using Toyota's own 0w20 and draining after 5000km.

i think you are just doing fine ... oil change after every 5k km.

i have 2013 vitz, i use toyota 5w-30 oil and change after every 3k km of interval. but you are using better quality engine oil.

IMO, you should also prefer and switch to 5w-30 "Fully Synthetic" engine oil, from any reputed brand, and change oil + oil filter both, after every 5,000 Kms.

Toyota 5w-30 seems semi synthetic to me.

IMO, if Toyota's 0w-20 is fully synthetic, you are changing oil after every 5,000 Kms, and not facing any problems, with oil, engine, filter, etc. Then its good and keep on following it.

Just change oil filter with every oil change, and in brands, I would suggest to go for Caltex / Havoline 0w-20 fully synthetic. To me, its one of the best value to engine oils. Else if, Shell, Total, Kixx, ZIC, etc. Are also not bad.

Toyota's genuine engine oils would be my last preference, when it comes to engine oils.

Remember to buy original from any company outlet of caltex to avoid counterfeit. Go to caltex pakistan website and search company operated outlet for ur city. In islamabad it is in blue area and in Peshawar it is on University road.

The point of overfilling the engine oil has worried me a little now. As i have been pouring 3.25 litres(whereas recommended is 3.1) in my passo 2013 in the last 2 of my oil changes, of which one was changed 1 nd a half month ago, and the other changed last night. Is that Ok? 3.25litres. or should i reduce it?

Sir IMO and observation, both would suffice, as these both are fully synthetic, from reputed brands, and offer value to money.

I haven't tried Havoline yet, so cannot comment, but Havoline only, if / when offered in 208L drums, just like Total 5w-30. Until / unless they aren't offering it, I ain't going for it (as it doesn't prove economical and cheap otherwise).

I am of the opinion that engine oil must be filled / pourerd, as per quantity mentioned in the owners / users manual.

If its easily feasible and possible, then drain out the excess engine oil, else if, no need to worry.

If it had been working since last 2 oil changes, it can also work now, but still, not a good practice.

2 oil changes in 1.5 months doesn't seem understandable to me.

In your particular case, Oil must be changed after every 5,000 Kms / 06 months, whichever comes 1st. And top up, if its level reduces.

We previously had a long discussion on this in another feed if you remember bro.
Passo 2013, was on 20w50. Then got advises of switching to 10w40 > 10w30 >5w30 stepwise.
And thats what i am in the process of.
Actually my car has a heavy duty. It covered almost 3200kms in one and a half month.

First experiment was almost successful alhamdulillah.
Had switched from 20w50 to 10w40(zic x7) fully synthetic, performance improved, mileage improved, oil drop wasn't significant and after 3200kms, changed it as the dealership had advised me to do so, they said to change it on 3000kms(althought i am a bit skeptical about it now ) and switched to havoline 10w30 now for the next 5000kms. Poured 3.25 litres last night.

Total is complete trash from my experience.

Great choice going for 0w20. Every other grade being recommended is from our own logics.
