Best engine oil for Toyota Vitz?

Sir, I am not challenging you, or your knowledge & experience, however, I have tried to explain my point of you from different sources and references (I believe, they can be considered as authentic).

Let me share my small, personal experience. I had owned Passo with 1KR-FE, Model year: 2013, odo reading at time of purchase: ~21-22K Kms, and reading at time of sell: ~47K Kms. Only 02 oil brands were mostly used; ENEOS Sustina 5w-30 and Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30 (poured Caltex Chevron 5w-40 for once, but can be exmpted, however, oil quantity was same). Quantity of oil poured: 3L (1L pack x 3), may be 100ml less than recommended by the owners / users manual

At the time of pouring, engine oil touched the max. mark on dipstick. Checked a couple of times in the morning before starting the engine, engine oil touched the max. mark on dipstick. After ~5K Kms, when drain interval came, for once / twice I checked oil level on that day; engine oil touched the max. mark on dipstick.

Sir, did I miss something? Or did something wrong or my engine's oil dipstick was not calibrated properly? As in my case, 3L quantity of engine oil served very well for all that time period of 1.25 years / ~15-16K Kms.

Its not about challange its groumd realities and experience of long time with this engine.
I had sawn 90 % cases of 1KR-FE both in vitz and passo about detoriation due to usage of 3l engine oil.

When we fill up the oil pan and install the new oil filter (here we are talking about the filter element type oil filter) the filter jacket itself take 0.5 L of engine oil. When we drain and refill the oil pan on high level with empty filter jacket it tends to reduce but my observation is. The jacket fills up and after aitting for long time the galleries of head assy drain down in the sump and you see the level full but when you crank it you still are suffering from underfill problem which if oem viscosities like 0w20 are not ised can be fatal for the engine which i do see when opening up a 1KR-FE with severe bore damage only caused due to misconception of 3l under filling.

I had arranged a batch of 4 vehicles over the past 2 years and tested the same scenario and the results were dreadfull for the 3l fill up vehicles where as 3.6 l fill up shows less sighns of detoriation. I now when recommend some one oil viscosities or drain intervals I do mention the fill in quantities.

I do mention on compression check and oil recm report about the quantity too so people can guide the techs in the right direction.

how much time or km of drive is require to fill up vitz newly installed filter with engine oil? it may be a sort of stupid question since it takes up to .5 L of oil thatswhy i am interested to know..

Hardly 1 to 2 second on first start after oil change and after start on regular start it fills in less than 0.5 second on oem Viscosities

Ok. But do the automobile companies like Toyota, Honda, etc. not keep these technicalities and factors in mind, when mentioning oil quantities with filter change / without filter change; in the owners / users manuals or service manuals?

I personally believe that engine manufacturer / OEM knows more than anyone about the quantities of oil reqd. in the engine, with filter change / without filter change. They do proper and extensive R&D and are definitely well aware of many different aspects & parameters, and all the technicalities involved (some of them you have already mentioned in your posts above). And when there is dipstick to give you oil level / quantity of engine oil in engine, I think, it is more than enough to give idea about the quantity of oil reqd. / poured.

If they have mentioned 2.8L quantity of 0w-20 or 5w-30 engine oil with filter change in the latest 1KR-FE in Vitz, I believe, they have given this quantity after lots of research, physical verification, experimentation, etc.

Rest, no further argument with you Sir, in this regard. I agree to disagree, and will stick with the analogy and school of thought that one should pour the engine oil in the exact quantity, as mentioned in the owners manual, and not overfill / overpour from the quantity mentioned in the owners manual, and further, owners / users manual and service manuals can not have conflict / different values of engine oil reqd.; with filter change / without filter change.

Please mention the area of the owner manual is it was published for pakistan???? Or japan or general asia region.

Do some keyboard war on google and find the african owner manual of 1KR-FE now i will be silent do the research on your own for african region owner manual for 1kr

It was taken from the owners manual for Japan, but irrespective of Japan, Pakistan etc. Will oil quantity be different in different regions of the world? I do not think so (Pardon, if I do not get it right)

I could not find owners manual for 1KR-FE for African region, however, if Africa was taken from high tempearture point of view, then I am sharing pictures from the latest owners / users manual for latest Toyota Aqua (also known as Prius C) just for reference, from 02 different regions; USA and Japan.

The engines are the same; 1NZ-FXE, Oil quantities are the same; 3.7L and 3.4L; with filter change and without filter change respectively.

Have you ever see the sump difference in toyota passo and vitz 1KR-FE? ??

Then why in JDM manual, 5w-30 has also been written?

And in USA manual too, it has been written on page 538 that "The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions"

As per your analogy, one should never pour any oil thicker than 0w-20, irrespective of driving conditions? (continuous high speeds, or / and extreme loading conditions to be precise)

Yes, as per manual, Passo requires 300 ml more engine oil than Vitz, for the same, latest 1KR-FE.

I think you are considring the load conditions like you will pull the whole ton of a sabzii in your vitz or passo or will load it till the full extent and also tow a trailer full of groceries on the back end.

I think your understanding of load is some thing different. And what about high speed would you shoot the speed immediately and regular cruise on 160km/h for 3-8 hours drive????

Last question does hybrid and normal gasoline engine operates at same pace like a normal gasoline engine?

Normal gasoline highest viscosity index is 30
I write again normal gasoline engine like 1KR-FE has highest viscosity index of 30 and universally its thumb rule to choose always from lowest available.

And what does towing means in USA ?
And also what are the load conditions in USA ?

Dont get yourself puzzled up with the difference of load and high speed drive

And also see the recomendation of API classes of 0W-20 in states.

One thing more do you use your vitz or prius C like a shehzore or mazda truck for daily commute?????
If no then higher loads doesnt apply on your vehicle.

I remember once i travelled from houston to all the way up to minnisota on a 4runner with a A troller on my back and i do remember my 1GR engine has AMS OIL 0W-20 in it and it doesnt gave me an single performance issue on all the way

Pardon. I could not find 5.7 figure in the picture (it is max. 5.6 qt. / 5.3L, and is for the cooling system of the gasoline engine, and not the engine oil quantity reqd.)

OK. No problem. I had kept the reference and source same in both cases; i.e. Toyota Prius C / Aqua, latest models, and latest owners manual; one from japan and other from USA.

Update the higher load condition status
Higher load condition means
1: frequent towing (pulling a vehicle with your vehicle for more than 3 kms per day)
2: hauling
3: plowing
4: excessive idling for long periods like 12 hours +

Please tell us would you do the same with your vitz or prius c every day if you do these things then it does come in higher load conditions

If not then re evaluate the term higher load conditions.
