I own city 1.3 '15 MT, it is very stable even at 150 km/h. I had chance to drive 9th Gen Gli and it was floating on 120 km/h.

Agree, my comparison was mostly about the 4 speed ECT vs 5 speed prosmatec and suspension preference based on condition of road, both things do not depend on Engine power.

Earlier I was so confused about 4 Speed ECT because on paper it looks ordinary but since i am driving it my perspective is totally changed. The other thing I hate about City is touching every other speed breaker, you need to at least put 195/60/15 to minimize the impact then your mileage suffer due to bigger tire...If I ever want to buy city it will be Manual or CVT version (God knows when it will launch) and also when Karachi roads are better.

Bro the things you noticed were just because you were comparing 1.3 vs 1.6 that's the reason.. Otherwise I found 1.6 civic prosmatec (5 speed prosmatec) to be a better transmission than 4 speed ect but the things I'm completely missing in altis are retractable mirrors which were even present in my 12 years old civic but even not present in brand new aspire... Disappointed

Dear All

Thanks a lot for your valuable / insightful remarks and observations. Now please come back to the topic and give your answer in clear cut terms i.e whether I should spend additional 85000 and go from City 1.3 A/T 2016 to Aspire 1.5 A/T 2017 or spend additional 315,000 and jump to Altis 1.6 A/T 2017. Both cases I need to wait 5/6 months. Additional amount is based on my sale value of City 1.3 A/T +WHT (refunded) and on road price of CITY 1.5/ ALTIS1.6 without WHT.

Please no further tangential comments or alternate proposal. No hatchback/ No hybrid / No recondition/ No 1800 CC

Bro just try to get the best out of it....
Which oil are you using
Is the air filter in good condition?
What is the car mileage?
Try to find a company operated fuel pump and stick to it... Shell and caltax seems better to me than pso... And also use light foot.. I mean don't Rev more the 3k rpm in any gear...
Surely you will get better results

If you have not sold your 1.3 PT then stick to it and try to drive with lighter foot as people are getting averages of 11-12 in city areas. You can improve its average as well.

If you have already sold it then go for 1.5 Aspire PT. As it has more powerful engine and fuel average is better than 1.3 PT.

Either you go for Aspire or Altis don't expect miracle. Both will give you equally feul average.

You already have used City so go for Altis this time.

Brother keep the 1.3.
Try improvimg your driving style if it is aggressive.
I'm getting almost 13 km/l on 1.3 PT it hasnt even completed its break in period.
Do some searching on how to drive more economically.

OP both Altis and Aspire 1.5 Pros are good cars. Both offer about the same fuel economy maybe slightly in the favor of aspire. Now it depends on your requirements and needs, if you need a bit more space in your car, want the car to be more comfortable and are ok with sparing another 2 lacs then the obvious choice is Altis. If you can make do with the slightly smaller interior and want that nimbleness in the car's handling and better stability then get Aspire and use the remaining money for fuel.

In 2013 I bought a 1.3 gli after selling a civic reborn only to try the new shape corolla with no money added after 3 months started lacking the pick up and found the 1.3 sluggish so sold it and bought a 1.6 altis sr the top variant then. It was a complete disappointment after 6 days I sold it because there was no change in shape although the car had 3 new features cruise sunroof and a better engine. To me a new car should have a different feel in body from the previous so that u can enjoy the new shape and feel the upgrade ! Luckily I found a buyer for the 1.6 loosing only 3k in its price to round up the figure for him. Bought myself a civic which pleased me a lot with all new shape and stuff
In 2015 I did the same blunder again by selling a vigo gx to buy a Thai Vigo ended up loosing 300000 and adding another 500000 for the upgrade
Moral: not to buy the same shape and body in the same car for an engine or feature upgrade . There will be no enthusiasm and excite in it
Buy the altis 1.6 mate

That is interesting thought, yes shape inside out does matter but I also think Engine is also plays a role because different engine means different experience of driving.

A few others have mentioned this, and I'll just repeat the same sentiment in case you missed it.

1.3 A/T - Underpowered, but if you haven't sold it yet, stick to it. However, don't sell and buy the same car again.
1.5 A/T - Quick response time in terms of pickup and handling. If you can afford it, add an intake in there and your Fuel Econ will improve further. (Yes, intakes improve fuel economy they aren't just for speed).
Altis 1.6 - Good car, but not as nimble and responsive as a City 1.5 AT. Don't get me wrong, the Altis 1.6 isn't underpowered. More space in the Altis when compared to the City.

The only question you need to answer is if an extra 315k for a little more cabin space, while bearing in mind the Corolla gets stolen a whole lot more as compared to the city.

Using both 1.3 prosmatic (myself) and 1.6 altis (Father's). Fuel economy wise there isn't much difference, for both city driving and highway. Driving in city both gives around 9-10 kmpl. On highway the average can touch 15.
Fuel tank is small in CITY (42 Liters) so that's a setback compared to that of corolla (55 Liter). Driving comfort wise Corolla is also better but honda isn't that bad. 1.6 is quite good and i really enjoy driving it, never disappoints while over taking even with luggage and all seats occupied, while city takes some time( what else do u expect from a 1.3).
I am using my 1.3 pros city since 2013 and have nearly 50k on the odo, and I am satisfied.
But if your pocket allows you, don't think of getting 1.5 aspire, 1.6 is the best option. If u get 1.5 aspire, you will again be stuck to 42 liter engine and a bit stiff drive compared to that of corolla.
(I haven't driven 1.5 aspire so can't comment on it's engine response)

Very sensible advise.
I have already sold 1.3. I can live with slightly smaller cabin and smaller fuel tank. Though low ground clearance of 1.5 ASPIRE will hurt me.

Still no good enough reason to spend additional 230,000 for upgrading to ALTIS 1.6 and buy a theft prone car.
