I was planning to buy a cell phone and wanted some suggestions what to buy HrTc or Blackberry.My range is from 10000 to 15000
I was wondering which is better HTC explorer or Blackberry 8520 although i do not plan to use its services yet since non of my contacts are using blackberry.

So u have htc explorer in mind. Explorer is horrible! Instead buy htc chacha in grey, it will cost u like 16K. Trust me, its the best mobile in this range. It has a front facing camera and 5 mp rear camera. Plus a better processor, Android Gingerbread and Htc sense. Buy Htc, far better than Blackberry. And seeing that u r 18 years old, chacha is the best choice becuz if u txt a lot, it will be very hard in explorer becuz of small screen. Ur choice dude:D

Bro,they both belongs to seperate classes. Curve 8520 is a non touch entry level BlackBerry. While Explorer is also entry level but its a touchscreen Android phone. Instead get ChaCha. If you just want a BB then get Bold 9700 in used. Which. Should cost 15 in pristine condition. Else get a BB Torch. Which should cost 19k.

With my long experience of mobiles.. Blackberries designed for email and BBM crazy people ( Like Me )
i prefer you buying HTC if you want fun and for messaging blackberry is always rocking solid....

I think its a comparison between BB interface and android, and i feel BB very very boring, a lot of people find it interesting though.

I just moved from android to HTC HD7 (windows phone), and im really liking it.

Androids can be customized as per ur choice, its more like buying a car to modify it.

Windows phones are like protected praised product from Microsoft, you cant change much how it works for u, like it or hate it. I liked it.

I think you would find BB boring as Wasif111 said...go for android (HTC). You can also find sony xperia in this range.

if you have not tried BB ever....its right time to get to do it....if u r in Lahore you can get a used BB9780 in decent condition for around 16-17K it has best value for money and is a premium product (only if you can bear a device already used by unknown person) i can describe SOME pros and cons of it:

PROS:
nothing beats BB in signal strength
nothing beats BB in call quality ( the sound quality received/transmitted ) even u can tweak it by enhancing bass/treble etc
nothing beats BB in terms of battery life as it is always online
u can drop it countless times and it goes on (build quality and durability is excellent)....u actually have to hit it hard on wall to get rid of it (i did it a month back to get a new BB)
BB OS is very stable...and if u never used it before u can keep it exploring at least for a month till to get to know all features....as a rule of thumb u can utilize a thing to full potential if you know it completely.
you can have 10 push email configured on it (required BB plan)
you are always online on MSN,GOOGLE,Twitter,Whatsapp,Viber,yahoo through numbuzz,Skype through IM+ facebook, facebook messenger and off course BBM (required BB Plan)
BB is automatically taking back up of your important data and saving it on servers (through BB Protect if u opt to use it) you can wipe ur device, ring it, send message to it, block it, see it on map through BB Protect.
you can connect it to laptop and use high speed internet unlimited (required BB plan)
multimedia capabilities are quite good ,5MP camera video camera, music library voice notes sound recorder.
holster changes its alert setting automatically.
and you can use TAPATALK on it...

CONS:
email is only in text format
internet tethering is not fully functional (requries BB desktop software to use intrnet)
OS a bit difficult to understand foe newbies.
security is way too much beefed up.
you will start hating NOKIA...
Once u get into BB...u cant live without it...i have iphone, Android but still cannot let go BB even after 8 years...

If it's fashion you tend to follow, then HTC is the latest. The trend went like BlackBerry - Iphone - HTC. All brands have still retained their loyalists BUT HTC is the latest indeed. Got four friends in my close gang, each has a different version ov HTC.

Many complain of the small size ov Explorer whereas messaging and web browsing CAN be enlarged. I have been using it since May and am surely one happy, proud owner. However, Jz, the guy who encouraged me the most has kept another phone for texting, he said.

If you do plan on buying HTC, please make sure to get one with a warranty of Brightex (Brightex - Official Distributor of HTC Mobiles). You MUST ensure which warranty the shop keeper is giving. Ask him. Most will agree it is in warranty but which? Their own shop's. And this means covering only software and not hardware as is the case with Brightex. Again, this is info imparted by Jz. You needn't purchase from the Brightex company itself; outdoor vendors have the same too, though few in number. Such phones will be a thousand rupees more from non Brightex ones but certainly worth the peace of mind. However, the good news I have is that mobile operators like Mobilink and Ufone also sell HTC mobiles at discounted rates. What's more, you needn't buy a connection too. You will be surprised to know that while I bought mine from a shop priced at Rs. 14500, Mobilink sells it for a fixed Rs. 13800. I do believe it's gone cheaper now though.

not much apps allowed on blackberry,interface is quite blue blue,,,,haha
u can use alot of apps on htc and it will be a touch phone,android is quite user friendly!

Htc Chacha has a small screen and looks like it would be difficult to use a touch with a small screen and would also make reading text and playing games quiet difficult with such small screen.What do you think.Does one has to face these problems?

Go with HTC Explorer, if you're not a heavy message user. That is just about the only advantage a BB has over a touch screen phone.

ChaCha is good but I heard its battery will deplete very quickly.
I think Nokia E72 may also be considered.
