Bought a new Honda City a week ago. Problems!

I have been super excited lately since last Friday I received my new Honda City M/T 1.3 from Honda Center , Rawalpindi.

I got my car delivered at around 8 pm and I was so overwhelmed I didn't even think bout checking the car as hey! It's brand new so what can possibly go wrong?

Anyways, after 2 days I noticed below issues:
1. There are 2 'spots from from where paint is missing or its just a spot which is scratched. It's maybe twice as size of pen nib but it's there. I felt really very bad and this was the first downer. Picture attached.

1. On dashboard, the plastic covering seems to be detaching from one end. Pls see pic attached. Another downer.

2. When I change gear to the 2nd, I feel something happening in the gear. As soon as I shift it to other gears, the feeling goes away. It feels like there's something a bit off with second gear.

Not sure why it could be.

Anyone with such or similar experiences? M heading to Honda Center tomorrow to get these checked but not too sure what will happen.

Pathetic frieght job in case of scratch and meanwhile worst job by Honda in case of dashboard. Same happend with me. Got from Honda Chenab, Faisalabad and scratches were clearly visible on bonnet. I noticed on spot and then they made lame excuses and used buffer on it to make them less visible.
As far as the gear noise is concerned, I have also noticed a noise on back gear, Something sounds like "KATTAK".

Honda quality is going to crap so is Toyota quality,
I had a 2009 Corolla and sold it and booked 2016 quality mein zameen asmaan ka farq tha low se low quality kartay ja rhay hain
Same for 2015 city
Old city kabhi rakhi nai 2015 li not satisfied at all

And Honda Centre Rawalpindi is the worst honda dealership ever

I took my car for bumper paint and while moving my car they damaged the fender, then dry dented it without my knowledge and then why i said k you destroyed my car, they had the guts to say k sir yeh pehlay say tha aapne mari hogi gaari kahin. Jhoot bolna ho tou in se bulwao .
I know the owner from some connection who was useless by the way he told k sir navigation ka card nikal lain lcd se warna kaam k liye gaari lain gay aab jab wapis pick karnay ain gay mechanics ne ghayab kar dia hona hai

I completely agree with the 2nd gear observation. Something is off with 2nd gear, & its like driving a truck when i upshift from 1st to 2nd. The quality is decreasing day by day & thats pathetic.

Actually the assembling plant of Honda is insufficient to meet the demands of consumers, well their priorities is civic and brvs while city is at the bottom of the preference. City being the cheapest is at higher demand. This is the reason that new city is not launched in Pakistan. Well jo lay lee hay us ko khul kay chalaein. Agar koi issue aey then claim warranty. Lastly don't take tension. Enjoy the safe drive. Give Sadqa khairat.

I feel.like Toyota quality is better these days
Bought a 2002 Corolla se saloon brand new and still own it. Than I bought a 2016 corolla Altis 1.6. happy with the new car. Had an issue with the headunit Toyota capital motors very helpful and my headunit was replaced in a week. Toyota capital much better than toyota rawal motors

Yeah unfortunately my home is closer to Toyota Rawal so i have to go there and yeah they used to make a lot of fuss but ab jaan pehchaan ho gayi hai so i dont have any problems there.
Toyota Quality is a little better than Honda right now but both had way better quality years back.

So far the paint on my Gli is way way better than my City both silver.
But in case of GLi under body paint sucks. pieces of paint keep falling.
In my City too many rattling noises so early even tough i drive the CITY more carefully and plastic feels more cheap and prone to scratches

Bro sorry to hear about your car issue. I have honda city 2018 1.3 mt and believe me i am encountering same quality issues like you are feeling. First of all one side of rear bumper is not inline with the fender also dashboard is not fully fixed and there is a constant rattling and vibration sound coming from inside as some latch isnt attached. Funny thing is that i drew it from Rawalpindi westridge showroom and drove it to bahawalpur and here dealership is saying that they cant deal with the issue better take it to multan or rahimyar khan. Thats amazing

This is nothing bro. My city literally came with a dent on the roof. Discovered it as I got home. Contacted the dealer and they said that they'll do something about it on the car's first service. As expected they didn't do anything about it and blamed me for the dent. My experience has just been horrible with this car and Honda fort. They kept my car for 2 weeks in the showroom without informing us that it has arrived. The car in general is built like a piece of trash. My mom's terribly maintained 200k km driven 2010 gli feels better made and better to drive. The only thing city is better at compared to the corolla is acceleration and fuel economy. The car makes all sorts of weird noises and in my car the first gear is the one that feels weird. The build quality on these cities is very inconsistent too. My 2017 one feels completely different to my uncle's 2018 one. The 2018 one somehow feels even worse than mine. I also have a speaker rattle in the right side door and the dealer people did everything but could not remove the issue. The issue is confirmed to not be with the speaker but with the door. My dad wanted to replace the corolla with a new city and I convinced him to just keep using the corolla considering how bad my experience has been and how its 2 lakh more expensive now than a year ago. It was a bad value for money last year, now its just horrible value for money. Its also gonna get even more expensive soon due to currency devaluation.

Salam, very sorry to hear about the issues you all are having with your cars. I remember back in November 2015 my dad was thinking about a brand new Honda City but the only issue was interior quality. One day he suddenly bought this 2012 Honda Fit Shuttle Hybrid and believe me when I say this, that was the best car he could've bought for the price. It has WAY more features than the local cars here and is more economical. Engine was same as 1300CC City but had semi hybrid technology so slightly quicker. Even after a severe accident due to which the airbags were deployed, we got the car repaired from some random local mechanic and for a year and a half later (at which point we sold it) car made zero noises and had zero issues, After such a heavy accident. I've noticed the pathetic quality of local cars, we got a 2018 Civic Oriel and the same issues from 2016 are present; Low quality steering buttons, engine moulding looks indescribable garbage and the skeleton looking trunk lid. We have a 660CC Dayz which price is around 13lakh and the quality of that is better than the Civic which costs 30 lakh. Spend your money wisely, Imported cars are the way to go. Once the Local Honda Business goes down they'll be forced to increase their quality because of zero demand. If you need something better than the City, get that Fit Shuttle or Some imported sedan like an axio or ciaz.

Been using JDM's for quite a while.
In the sedan market Axio,Premio, Prius were always out of my budget so have been keeping a City and a Gli
For my third car i had a better budget and used a 2006 alto and now a 2014 Alto and its superb comparing it to my Gli

There is no harm in purchasing a JDM if you are self importing it after paying complete taxes and duties.
JDMs available now a days are having issues (accident-ed, dented painted after reaching Pakistan).
Import grade sheet is not available with most of the cars. Local cars have many issues and Government needs to have a check and balance system on the big 3s.

horrible experiences of city have terribly frightened me. I am going to buy city 1.3 PT through bank but not yet paid downpayment.. should I change my mind and not go for city??

I have one question from those who are favouring Japanese imports. How can one be sure before buying a Japanese imported car that's it's never been into an accident or had other kind or mechanical issues or body damage? They sure are better value for money but how to be sure before buying a car that it's good as new.

The car is not worth it at all especially with the new prices. Go for something Japanese or used 9th gen well maintained civic. Both will be cheaper than city, you won't have to wait a few months to get them and they're much better cars. City is the mehran of sedans. Old, outdated, overpriced POS. Also try to avoid bank financing if possible. My experience has been pretty bad with it. It was bad value for money last year at 1670k and a really stupid purchase now at 2000k. And these prices are without taxes and registration.

Simply verify the auction sheet. It costs a mere 1000 rupees and you get each and every detail of the car. i have been buying JDM's for years. Always verified the auction sheet and got a completely clean car

Thank you for your kind feedback. I have heard that other than recent price hike by Honda, Govt. is also going to increase taxes by 20% which will make city ex-factory price beyond 2000k. Is this true?? BTW, in light of all what I have read here and other people suggestions, I might not go for city. instead go for any used japanese import with good resale value. Once I get rid of bank guy, I will come back here for your suggestions about japanese options. Thank you again

Let me share my experience further. I think this car is great. The Quality issues that I mentioned are negligible. For 2 pen dot sized paint irregularities, I cannot overlook the pros of the car. I am loving every minute of driving this. If you are going for 1.3 PT though, I would suggest you test drive a car or two to decide for yourself since the gear changing is not very smooth and so isn't the mileage.
