Brakes of 2001 Corolla vs. Brakes of new corolla

I've heard, and so have you, a lot of complaints and bashing of the brakes of the new corolla. Whether there is a problem or not, I dont know, but what I want to know is that if there is a problem ,is it also persistant in the old shape(2001) corolla? Because i have a 2.0d 2001 and I would really like to know.

yes i also feels that the brakes of new corolla is not as good as it was in older shape.

Brakes of the Indus Corolla(old one) are awesome...brakes in the new one cant even come close to themm..

Old one had way better brake and handling then this new one.

i drove a new shape corolla in khi for a few days.. brakes were ok,, at moderate city driving speed. a couple of emergrency braking, and car stop well, so i am not sure all new corolla brakes are useless, could be some cars with problem issue.

It is more a hype about Corolla breaks problem then the actual problem. Had these been so bad as some members here often say at least 70 percent of Corollas would have been rusting junkyards.

They brakes suck simple of the new corolla i have 2001 corolla the new 1 doesnt even come close to that the main reason is the centre of gravity on the new car is too high it effects its stability and yeah the breaks suck also while the older 1 is much more lower nicely balanced car and as far as rotting in the junk yard simple answer there are no alternatives to the corolla if other models of toyota were present in our market then for sure the corolla would have been rotting this new 1 i mean

sorry all of u corolla haters,,,,the brakes of corolla are good and nothing wrong with them,,,if there had been something wrong then we would see a corolla with accident everyday,,,i mean why cant u corolla haters understand,,if brakes were as bad as u pretend then why so many corollas on road??dont tell me plz that people have no choice,,they have lot of,,lot of choice like,mitsubushi,civic,liana,,,,yet they prefer corolla,,,no one likes to take risk while buying a car,,,so the bottom line is that there is no problem with brakes,,,,all of people who criticise its brakes actually own cars like mehran,santro and they simply take out there frustration,,,,,strange but true.

i have both of them and yes even though the are not exactlty perfect but still not that bad either. as mentioned above because the driving position of car is little higher whihc to me is great pleasure .....it reduces the over all grip of car and one feels little more out of control in this corrola.......but the are quit ok on moderate speeds.....and at high speeds out come is more dependant on luck than on brakes.....moreover personally i got mine typres changed and the improved its braking further..

I have driven both of these cars before and the 2001 model has supreb brakes and handling compared to the new model which has really poor brakes. The car just skids on.

@asd123 sir i own a vti/crown/toyota 2000 and before u mentioned cant own them well i had the new diesel 1 its brakes sucked then i had the se saloon its brakes sucked then recently few months back bought the new altis and still its breaks sucked compared to honda and as far as the choice thing which u pointed out ppl buy them coz of there resale.Lastly kindly visit a toyota show room and go to there workshop and c how many are parked there for denting painting and finallyyy here's my corolla :).

@crazy425 sorry brother i dont want to start this discussion again they are better then the non abs car but not as good as a honda the car pulls it self to the left when u brake and i am tellin u this from not testing a single car my own 1 which i had but by testing 3 4 and this defect was present in all of them :).

A four disc combination without ABS does not make sense. I think ABS should be on models. If without ABS than 2 disc and s drums are OK. Like they have in new Honda City. Most manufacturers world wide do not use 4 discs without ABS. If its without ABS then 2 Discs and 2 drums and that too on small cars.
