Its very sad and disturbing indeed.
I have been looking at people's posts and speculations and want to add my views on them.
I went to the last drag race event held in bahria town. Its very sad to infrom you that the worst problem in paki crowds is that they do exactly what they are told not to. Last time, the organizers we repeatedly asking people to back off from the track and stand behind the nala. But as soon as the admin left, people came back on the track to get a better view of the happenings. Some people even joked about it and made it a point that as soon as the admin car passed , they would sit on the footpath and put their feet on the track. People in our country are optimistically stoopid at times and think nothing will happen.
About the driver, I don't think it was the driver's fault as he had been dragging for a long time and at 160, there are alot of factors that come into play for a thing like that to happen. I even heard that the car lost traction on gear shift . I have had the opportunity to sit in that supra with my friend driving. It pulls around 800 bhp on full boost and is rear wheeled. Whenever my friend changed gears, the car swayed from left to right because of too much power going to the rear. That car even did it in 3rd and 4th gears, thats how wild that car is ( was).
About the driver running away, well i would and you would too. Not because of the police but because of the pressure and the shock of hitting a car at 160 and killing people. You would just want to get out of that situation because no one wants or can imagine to kill people. And everyone knows whose car it is so he didn't exactly run away from the law and he knows he can't.
I am sorry if someone doesn't like this but i have been to the previous event and can judge that the spectators are at fault. Had they been standing behind that nala, nothing wouldve happened as we can see in the picture, the supras front wheels are in the nala and it stopped there. Also the reaction time wouldve been more for the people if they were behind the nala. Not at all the driver's fault. He was there to Drag, and take out the optimum performance from his machine. He did that. Accidents happen. Its just that we should be a bit more responsible spectators of such sports.
May Allah give the deceased the highest level in Jannat and may the injured get well as soon. Ameen
