on an engine functioning as per factory specs,
you car is efi, and has a mechanically connected throttle plate, not drive by wire, per my knowledge
on cold start, the ecu will give a signal to idle air control valve to increase rpm to 1500. until engine reaches operating temperature.
on reaching operating temperature, engine will reduce rpm to 800 rpm on idle.
a mechanical thermostat valve will only help in reaching operating temperature faster. thats it
