Building up a gaming pc

hello pakwheelers and gamers!!

i need help from some hardcore pc gamers.
recently i switched myself from a desktop pc to laptop. and now i m willing to convert my desktop pc into a hardccore gaming pc.

current specifications are:

processor: core2 duo E4400 @2.00GHz
motherboard: intel(R) 82801G
ram: 2 gb kingston
hard disk: 160 GB internal + 1 TB external (portable)
Graphic card: intel built in

i m not very good in selecting computer accessories, so i dont have any idea how to modify it into a hardcore gaming pc.

as due to the shortage of budget, i m not going to upgrade it in 1 time, i will do it in different steps. so please guide me step wise that means what should i upgrade first and then so on...

you cannot compare lappy with your desktop gaming pc but first upgrade your RAM,if you are in Karachi go to Computer xperts tel. 34813080 near mr. burger gulshan, & get other accessories too from there

First of all tell us your budget. The gaming pc, all depends upon the resolution. If you buy 1080p screen then first of all buy graphics card, nvidia gtx650 or ati hd 7850. Then buy core i3 with any board and 4gb ram minimum.

hmmmmmmmmmmm my GPU had got a fault AGP nvidia 6200 ... so now i cant find readeon 2xxxx or 3xxxx series or any other nvidia.

Thus i am Going to buy a very low cost mobo and a gpu which can just run BF3.

I find these ones to be good in lowest cost.

1- Intel DP965LT MOBO
2- Nvidia 8xxxx GT 1gb. / Nvidia 9xxxx GT 1gb / Readon 3xxxx series

all this is ancient ..waste of money buy new motherboard, processor ,, intel's new built in graphics are not that bad, buy new motherboard processer and when u have money buy the graphics card

but for a hardcore gaming pc , 70-80k is just a starter , and it can go up-till a million rupees according to your workload . and requirements . even a used machine would NOT be an easy find below 50k , for " Hard core" gaming needs ..

If he sells his current rig and shifts to 1155 platform then either G620 or Core i3 2100 both comes with HD2000, But for playing battlefield 3 its needs more than HD2000. It all depands on resolution at which game is to be played

plus a decent chassy - 5k ,

total 87k

now currently there is no game on earth currently that cannot be played on this configuration smoothly , yes for games there would definitely be a lag on 1080 resolution , and the fps wouldn't be the best 60 .

but , for that high of a resolution , the negligible difference is never noticeable if one is playing on a standard 19 inch screen ..
yes things do become different if one is willing to play on a 30 incher ...

but for that you can put the GPU in SLI , and then there is no game that cant be played smoothly on this configuration ..
some would run smooth on 720 , lag at 1080 , but MOST would give a very smooth performance ... even at a single gpu working ..

i wont buy 1155 either.. 1150 socket is out..
on galaxy website i5 4670 is 26000rs , this is the best gaming processor for the money right now

There is no need of spending on i7...

1155 is mainstream and cheap.. like 1156, 1150 will be going down soon

1155 is done.
6 months and 1155 will be nowhere to be found except used market..

dont u think that u contradicted with your own statement , when you earlier stated that in this price range , only 720 max is possible ....

however , according to me this would be a bottle necked setup ,
an under powered mobo , and under powered processor , for a GPU like that , but again its up-to preference .
that u want a gaming only optimized pc or comparatively an all rounder .

It depends on the way you spend money.

i5 (K), Asrock Ext 4 or 6 amd 650ti

Or

i5 2400, H61M and GTx680

Its really amazing for me to hear that Motherboard can underpower GPU. He is not a pro ofcourse why would he be needing a K series processor?

A simple i5 non K with basic board H61M or H77 Pro 3 is more than enough. Unless you have enough money to go crazy.

it depends if the PCI express slots you have are 16x/8x/4x , the difference is evident on the fps .
secondly , every mobo does not offer the same bus speeds . better mobo's have better bus speeds . depending upon its unique architecture , for instance a GPU can deliver 5400mhz on the bus ,
but ,
your board only supports 4200mhz on the bus , so in this case you bottle necked your GPU . by providing it an under powered mobo .
it would still work smooth , but its full capabilities are not utilized .
