Buying from amazon possible in Pakistan?

but using viabox and shipping to pak was a bold move. since i dont think anyone has tried it for shipping to pak.
to prevent custom duty shocks:P i know a guy who imports. from usa to pak. he gives you a quote including all charges so you dont have to worry about anything. :).

I ordered a few items on 27th November and they started shipping on 1st Dec. Amazon for some reason decided to split them in 3 parcels, and shipped 2 of them using Aramex and one using i-parcel. I work on Amazon mechanical Turk and they awarded me Amazon Gift cards as a earning which i use to buy Playstation cards,digital games etc and then sell on other place to convert them into cash.I only buy email delivery items from amazon.First time i bought supplements through amazon gift cards on viabox address let's see what happens.
Can i directly ship from amazon to my Pak address instead of viabox??

You can add your Pakistan address to your Amazon account, and then add an item to your car to see, if they allow direct shipping.

If they allow it, it would quite likely be cheaper than other options. This has been my experience with Amazon direct shipping vs shipping to ViaBox/Stackry and getting it reshipped.

Incorrect, there are duties in Saudi Arabia as well. But usually negligible (~5%).
My understanding is they don't bother applying duties on personal imports, but stamp down with duties when large quantities are imported. My friends regularly import iPads, PCs etc from US for personal use, and never paid any duties.

I have imported a lot of Cisco networking gear, HP servers etc in last 3 years and never paid a dime to Saudi customs, Alhamdullilah. However, I know people how are importing used cars from US/Dubai and paying around 5% mark.

Bro if you look at some previous pages. you will find that the only reason we are using mail forwarding service is because Amazon does most of its shipping to USA. we cannot order major electronic items. in pak.

Well, it seems that most of the countries have a "decent" and crystal clear custom duty policy. I know of only a few countries where it is always absurd, including Pakistan.

It is indeed similar case in Bangladesh. The taxes are predictable, however the customer clearance charges are unpredictable, as clarified by a work colleague. So you do not know the final bill until you see it.

Amazon operates in India - amazon. in, so why not Pakistan, SriLanka etc. In fact, ebay (ebay. in) also available in India. But, FlipKart is the top e-commerce site. people who can buy online are not even looking for local stores for buying things like smartphones as much much better deals are available. Xiaomi, Meizu, OnePlus, Lenovo etc launches/sells some of their exclusive items online only.

I have read your messages twice and understand the following:

I am not too sure which retailer is shipping your items, but it seems they use DHL for their parcels, and DHL may have decided to use USPS in this case (can depend on destination country and shipping agreements in place with that particular country). If USPS is being used, it may be the slow delivery service using Pak Post as last mile delivery, although I may be wrong about this.

I believe your items have been collected by DHL and waiting in the shipper's warehouse. I advise you to email/contact shippers or DHL to get more details of what is going on in your case.

Dont worry USPS is very low , its really a snail mail. i ordered some items within USA once using USPS and they gave me the same "Pre shipment info" status. and took 3 days to update the next status. as bym007 says contact DHL nevertheless .(Contact them everyday :P.) as i also did the same with the online store i bought the item from.

Where did you place your order from ? Call/Email/Live chat with them, if an option is available to get an update.
Check with DHL afterwards..

Pass on USPS, unless no one else replies. USPS have no information about your order as they have yet to collect it.

I face this dilemma from time to time and usually end up sighing in despair.

This time I decided to seek the aid of fellow pakwheelers.

So, how can a person buy stuff (usually electronics and car audio for me:)) from amazon?
1. What payment modes are possible?
2. What are the duty charges?
3. Is there any risk involved such as damage, fakes?

Needless to say, the seller with at least 95% rating and shipping to Pakistan should be selected.

Any and every answer will be appreciated!

Yes, this is usual for USPS. Dont forget this is the peak season for shipping services as well, when they are working overtime to cope with the work loads.
