The car in question is a Honda City 2006. The problem was intermittent compressor shutdown. Wiggling the wire to the thermal protection switch caused the compressor to cycle.

I have no idea for now I am just doing a Lil homework before starting the work btw do you think it will prove better than r134 ? I am also planning to cover all electric wire with tape and connector with di-electric silicon grease as r152a is highly flamable

Definitely there is a good reason and I did not know about it when I got it serviced. I did not even know it was a thermal protection switch then. The mechanic just clipped the wire at the base of the switch and now splicing is impossible.
Now, should it be replaced?
I read on the web that now I need to be careful of low refrigerant charge which can cause the compressor to overheat. Is it the only cause of compressor overheating?

Assalamo a laikum.... what about the split units which are running in our houses, installed when the idea of vacumming the lineset was unknown to us .... what is the solution to them ? i have a split installed which had no vaccum done... installed directly, just the pipes connected, and not oil trap (pipe bend).... the pipes are straight and .. yes it does work very well.. but at this point, what can be done to get the air and the moisture out of the pipes when its been where for a couple of years......

You have to discharge the system and refill it with vacuuming and procedures.

If its working fine leave it alone. The moisture in refrigerant has already poisoned the refrigerant sooner or later you'll have a leak in the indoor as the poisoned gas will eat away the pipet metal. As it gets leaked repair the leak (it'll take 200 or 300 to just repair the leak as new) then follow the procedure and refill the system. Untill then as its giving no problems leave it alone and enjoy the thing.

Yikes ! I dnt want no leaks !!!! If... i store the gas in the compressor.... and vaccum the line set ... and open the gas again, and purge it.... will it help ?

You cannot do that. 1: the gas is poisoned already you have to waste it. And charge a fresh gas.
2: compressor can't store any gas in it. The procedure you see chokes the gas in outdoor unit not in the compressor. And if you choke the gas you cant flush the outer air handler aka outdoor unit.

If you discharge system NOW it will still leak since you have been using it like that for quite a time now. The gas has already done damage to the pipes. It already has weakened one of the U-joints in inner air handler. Charging new gas will only increase the period of leak but it will leak eventually. So, a good call will be using it like that and let the leak come (if it comes) repair that part and follow the procedure this time. Provided that it is not giving you any problems yet.

I have got a question ! does corolla 2012 has the seperate fan for condenser and separate for radiator? Secondly why there isnt any noise of fan of condenser if there is a condenser fan installed .. The fan does
Kicks in like after 30 seconds and then you wont hear any fan noise .. Whats the logic? Whereas in my khyber you do hear the condenser fan noise and when engine reaches optimum temp the radiator fan kicks in .. Cant it be made quite like corolla fans ? Or there terminology is different?

Corolla 2012 has a single fan which is controlled by the fan controller / ecu. It runs on multiple speeds on as need basis.

Installing such systems in khyber will not be feasible.

Assalamo a laikum. A couple of questions. ...

1) pipes of my split ac are naked... both moti and patli pipes. .. what cud be a good thing to cover them with... i heard thers a tape available in thr market which i can warp around them.. anything better ?

2) my 2 season old split this year. .. is giving smell like a nala when it running for like half an hour.... i cleaned and serviced it properly... but when its running and u enter the room... it gives u the feeling of a nala... what wrong with this brother ?

My vitz 2008 in traffic jams mostly or when parked etc with ac on the ac stops cooling after some time and wont start cooling again until i turn of the ac for 4-5 minutes , is dat a sign of weak compressor ? Compressor overheating or wht ?

Have a problem with my A/c thats been there ever since i bought the car..The compressor doesnt cycle off once its turned on..ie..it doesnt trip..A mechanic said that it can be the evaporator temperature sensor..Another weird symptom is whenever the ac button is pressed i hear a click from the a/c button thats not there on other cars..kindly help..Car is a 2008 civic 8th gen prosmatic!

The click is the compressor cluth kicking in... its normal... happens in every car... mine does also click... stand by the ac compressor of another car when its ac is turned on and ur hear it for sure.... for the ac not tripping... there is usually a thermostat which can be set... it costs around 500 700 rs and is installed inside the car under the dashboard near the fan.... you can adjust it as to when to trip the ac.... get that checked. . And if its faulty get it replaced. . Go underneath the dashboard from thr front passenger seat and u might locate it uself ... itll have a solid silver wire going inside the unit.... if u find it... u can adjust it by turning its knob by using a plier tool... turn on the ac and rotate it.. if the ac turns off then its working and just needs setting.. otherwise it needs replacement. .
