Car Care and Detailing Dreams (Part 2)

Did some Detaling on following cars last weekend.

1) Daihatsu Terios: Interior was cleaned. Washed and then applied GC on it.
2) Suzuki Swift: Vacuammed the carpet, washed with Armorall Wash n Wax Shampoo and then applied Meguiars #26 on it.
3) Japanese Alto: Its my car so the best work is been done on it. Firstly I washed my car, washed mats, vacuammed carpet, cleaned interior and applied Meguiars Nxt on it.

i have a little query

double bucket wash means two buckets,one with water n other with shampoo solution
so first we take wash mitt,soak with solution apply on car then put in water rinse out the dirt n then use the solution BUT when car is dirty esp after rain,so always or mostly with me,the wash mitt gets dirty alot n even if i try lots of rinsing from water,dip in water rinse out it still stays quite dirty esp after few times,so what to do?should i just continue since that was suppose to take out the loose dirt
normally i use pressure water so i cleap up wash mitt every time with that pressure but otherwise its hardly any pressure which doesnt cleans it up like today,i even put it down n rubbed hand on it,rubbed it like in washing but nothing :mad:

Use a grit guard... that helps significantly.

I would like to know what can be the remedy for this scratch, I scratched it while parking into the garage(stupid I know:/)

I know about touch-up paint, but it seems obvious since the colour shade is different.

Any one knows what color code white swift uses? Might be able to find the exact shade searching.

Suzuki body workshop wants to sand. 1x1 inch surrounding areas and then spray it all which is a hassle.

Whats the desi workarounds for

• grit gaurd ? some some of short height plastic basket placed upside down or anything else.. Something that still gives you enough water depth but still has gaps enough for the mitt's dirt to go through it.

• detailing brushes (for exterior emblems/trims and interior dash board area/AC vents) -- tooth brush (even the soft type) bristles can be scratchy i know, what about the small sized paint brushes at paint shops or kids brush for water painting

You posted at the right place and this thread has the right experts (minus me in the paint domain) to help. My two cents though:

A few areas seem deep but most of it looks like the black texture (of the surface that this area hit) stuck into the paint. I could be perceiving it wrong but if i am right then it can possibly be taken off with a cleaner.
If you dont have a cleaner wax, take it a local painter and ask him to just apply a small cut cream and rub it to get rid of the black texture (which will most likely reveal the white paint surface beneath).
For the rest, it seems very minimal damage that can be filled with a qalam.
Ofcourse if you are after perfection, then you'd have to go to the white paint qalam/wet sanding/compounding route (which seems like an overkill given the nature of this).

Color codes are usually on the car front door pillar (its there on the jdms definitely, not sure about our local ones).

Foam tire cleaner is for both the tire and rims..?

1) wet the tire.
2) spray the foam cleaner.
3) brush se ragra nahi marna.

Yes got it, a separate mf for tires. but for tires i can also use 40 rupee wala kamra...?

Yup its for both. No no do use brush, but with light strokes. Brushes are important for deep cleaning. Yes you can use cheap cloths for wheels; the only bad thing is they leave a lot of fibers which is why i prefer mf.

Use two rinse buckets and one wash bucket.
Prodecure:
Dip clean and dry mitt in wash bucket, wash very dirty panel, dip mitt in first rinse bucket and SHAKE it but NEVER let it touch bottom of bucket or it will pick up settled dirt. Thats where grit guards come in action. They prevent you picking up the settled dirt but you can survive without it if your budget isnt favouring you. After rinsing in first bucket, do the same procedure in the second one and it will be very clean(provided you did everything right) before it reaches the wash bucket. Having dirt in wash bucket is not good; so be as careful as you can.

Have some good detailing brushes. Will post an ad for them in the night. I wouldn't advise using any brush the chrome and other interior parts.

Try changing the water of your rinse bucket more frequently if it doesn't get clean. And shake to clean it; don't just dip it. Microfibers don't allow dirt to loosen up very easily so you need some force i.e shaking and rubbing while it is dipped in water.

That piece of foam will trap dirt on the side you're using and will become a swirl machine even if car wash is used to rub it with. Keep a separate wash mitt for lower areas; a cheaper one like Kenco if your budget doesn't allow you to buy a better quality one. Don't use the foam ever again....... always do the lower, dirtier portions at the end.

Toothbrushes, paint brushes are all synthetic nylon fibers and they feel smooth but have stiff tips and scratch faster than you know it. What you need are brushes which use softer, more 'natural' fibers like boarshair, horsehair etc. These are pretty gentle. Do a research and you'll definitely get answers.

had a look just now at the washed wash mitt,it still is the same as it was before,seems its not loosening the dirt
i guess i'll have to do a pressure water session on it to take it out after all :S

as for dirt getting trapped it seems clean since i keep running water on the panel
before i used to use a simple cloth which gets dirty
