Service station guys dont give a rats a$$ about your car, since its not their own. Therefore always try to take care of your car yourself, because noone cant do it like you could.

They dont take of their rings, or watches, which ruin your paint finish.

They use the same cloth for washing the tyres, undercarriage and then the same cloth which has a gazillion of tiny rough particles attracted from the tyres and undercarriage, goes onto ruining your clear coat, scratches, swirls, you name it, it give you that.

Surf is not meant to wash cars with, you can wash your tyres with it ok, but not the cars body, it would dry your paint like anything, and leave behind an extremely rough paint finish. But it is quite famous amongst our local service station detailers.

Pros

Im sure most of us cant afford automated machines like karcher at home, which cost a lot, so the fast running water/air out of their service station hoses, removes dirt very well.

@usman bhai, Waseem Sb. suggested that any sort of Sealer n Glaze is suppose to be used after the application of wax. Can u plz shed some light on the methodology of using the Sealer n Glaze as step 2 in Mothers' 3 step system?
Also, is sealer wax suppose to be both step 2 n step 3? that is, no wax required after its application?

Product: Turtle Wax Clear Vue Glass Cleaner.
Price: Rs. 400-500.
Bought From: Saca Plus, LHR.
Rating: 8/10
Good: Gives steak free (upto 85%) glass with an improved visibility at night.
Bad: Does not remove very old water stains significantly but still they are reduced so that they do not cause any blur in the vision.

Experience: Works better than most of the glass cleaner out there. So a must have in the arsenal!
For best results, use it with a specialised MF towel for glass. I currently use Ma-Fra MF towel for glass.

Bought this Biloxxi orbital buffer from Metro. There is a promotion going on which offers machine + pack of 12 bonnets for RS. 2199 (saves i think 600 or 700).
Will be testing my workmanship over this weekend. i will be doing mothers Step II and Meg Tech Wax on my car. Had a few Q's before i kick off:

1) which cover is for applying and which one is for removal?...there are two type of fabric one is with fur and other one without..

2) how difficult is to apply with the machine ? considering Step II is a liduid and tech wax is paste. is it ok to apply with hand and then remove with machine..will it affect the results.

3) is buffing and removing a wax layer means the same thing ?

Faizan if I simply put the definitions out for you I think you`ll be able to make the decision......

Glaze --- normally a product containing some filling ability to hide any light swirls. Some contain a small amount of protection and some glossing agents to shine deeper.

Wax --- a pure carnuaba wax is a LSP product used to protect the work done while preping the surface. Usually very wet in look, and deeper than synthetic waxes but durability is limited and re-application is needed more frequently.

Sealant -- a synthetic version of a wax. Originally quite sterile and plastic looking. Newer products use alot of polymers to amp up the gloss factor to look wetter. Protection is usually longer and thus reapplication is less frequent. You can top a sealant with a pure wax to add to looks as wanted, but not the otherway around typically.

Traditionally, the much sought-after, liquid-like, deep shine is attained through a pure carnauba paste wax. But, even car buffs like me will admit that carnubas are moderately difficult,liquid paint sealants, unlike waxes, are quick and easy to apply (under an hour), suitable for extreme climates, resistant to salt, UV rays, and humidity. The most dramatic difference between a paint sealant and a paste wax is the duration of the protection it offers. A paint sealant lasts two to three months in our part of the world, elsewhere it lasts 5 to 6 months or even longer. The biggest complaint about typical paint sealants is the cold, superficial shine.

I am a noob about Orbitals as well, used it for the first time yesterday.

You must read my response on the previous page, it would make it quite clear, that using a liquid wax with it is pretty difficult.

Sealer and glaze leaves behind a lot of haze if applied with O.B, and the optimal quantity of the liquid to be used is still a mystery to me.

Waxing with it is quite good, put a blob of wax onto different areas on the section you're about to wax and the buffer would take care of the rest, puts it good and smooth.

But applying a liquid with it gets a little confusing, if you put a blob of liquid on the body, and then work your buffer onto it, it is thrown all over the place.

We are having a detailing gtg this coming sunday, there would be people present who would be giving in tips about using Orbital, you are more than welcome to join in.

To begin with its better to apply glaze and wax both using hands, I think.
Leave removal part with orbital.

I borrowed it from vague_one, i applied the sealer and glaze and wax using the white towel type thing, which has a soft frill.

Ive been using both the products by hand, but wanted to try out the orbital, applying by hand and buffing off by orbital is the way to go for people like us, who are using it for the first time.

Oh sorry, i thought you were in Lahore, you're more than welcome to join us whenever you come to Lahore.

Usman Bhai, thank you for a detailed reply! InshAllah, i'll b going for a thorough detailing in a few days. And here is how i have planned to go about it:
1. Clay bar the whole surface to remove any contaminants and minor swirls.
2. Go for Mothers Step 2 Sealer and Glaze to mask any remaining swirls and bring out the grains in the paint.
3. Allow a curing period of about 2 hrs.
4. Top it off with either Mothers Step 3 or ICE paste wax (using a cleaner wax here would only ruin the prior surface prep, No?)
5. Finish it up with a minor application of either Blazin' Glaze or Platinum Extra Gloss.

Please do share what you think about the above mentioned methodology and kindly correct any flaws in it.

The fur one is used for application, without fur for removal

2) how difficult is to apply with the machine ? considering Step II is a liduid and tech wax is paste. is it ok to apply with hand and then remove with machine..will it affect the results....

Bad was a first time user, I advised to apply by machine an remove by hand....do the same...

For Liquid : With a foam spread the liquid evenly then use buffer to massage onto paint

For Paste: Just put some onto the surface an use buffer to massage onto surface

3) is buffing and removing a wax layer means the same thing ?....

Buffing is act the act of vigourousy rubbing a part to bring out the shine, wax removal is just taking the residue of the wax off
