I did it differently than tayyab here.
Usman bhai had given me the Type 1 buffer, and i applied wax+sealer and glaze using that.
The first time i did S&G it was a total mess like you explained earlier, but the trick is to keep the buffer pad wet, i got a spray bottle, and everytime i felt that the product was becoming dry, i would spray the buffer pad with water.
This how both wax and Sealer and Glaze were pretty easy to put on, a very thin film indeed.
And then i buffed it off with my hand.
Just make sure you dont apply S&G to a hot surface, it would create an extremely difficult to remove haze.
This orbital is extremely good to apply wax in my opinion, but i say you take off the wax with your hand because even if you do take it off with this, you would be using your hands in the hard to get places, so apply it with this keeping the pad a little damp, and buff it off with your hands.
But since we've bought a machine to do a mans job, we should utilize it completely, next tiem i would go with Tayyab's formula, but i doubt this single type 1 cloth could remove the wax off the entire car, because a MF needs to be turned quite frequently when buffing, but you cant turn this type 1 buffer to a different/clean side if it gets too much wax on it.
