the immobiliser is not in the ignition barrel - its under the dashboard, it just waits for the key to come into range and says OK to the ECU to start the engine. Even if you have your ignition lock in pieces and you have your key in the vicinity of the interior of the car it will start even by shorting the main ignition wires.

Nothing special - I would love to see him start it by directing wires with no key for the first attempt. The ECU disregards the immobiliser once the engine is running. And if you left the key with the locksmith - too bad - he could make a copy of its levers and its immobiliser hash too.

Tracking companies are making FOOL of innocent people, they only realise it when they get HURT. - Most of tracking companies have retired soliders to handle angry customers. Tracking devices are TOY for the car jackers. by passing a tracker is less then 30 sec job

I dont get it that HOW ON EARTH can you justify a retd soldier to be in customer service, they dont know anything about customer service. They are programmed to follow and issue orders without question.

i doubt he started it with original key(which proves that the car dsnt gt strtd without immobilizer in action)
but then he took the key out nd bfor it did smthing agn with the wires nd i took the car hapily to the home.

the immobiliser does not care if you stick a screwdriver in the ignition - they key needs to be nearby thats all. The keyblade does not make contact with anything connected to the immobiliser.

thats why Im asking, I know that he must have removed the ignition switch from the back of the barrel, twisted it with a screwdriver to start with key somewhere nearby - his pocket, his hand, on the mat etc. Once the engine fires - the ECU will ignore the immobiliser.

100% correct.... A typical fauji mentality is "Never agree with anybody in this universe when u r in a discussion & that always take the opposite stance & prove it with ur own false logic which in most cases is self made & bully the opponent with facial expression & by mocking at him...even if u know u r totally wrong, still convince urself that u r the only one rite because u cannot be wrong "..... Xulfiqar bhai, i need to take your opinion. I am in process of getting a new altis booked in this month, Altis does not come with any security features what so ever. After going through this thread and a couple more news about corolla thefts, im pretty concerned,
Now we are thinking to for for a civic, it comes with the immbilizer (the only concern is stiff suspension and fuel economy, but i can live with better handling )
Do you think getting a car with immobilizer is better or can we procure some sort of immobilizer level security for Altis (after market immobilizer may be?)

you can buy very good quality aftermarket immobilisers but have to get them from outside Pakistan, the bawlaepan ki shops selling remote locks etc will not have a good quality item.

have it installed professionally not by a scarecrow looking electrician that stuffs everything under the steering wheel space.

I think that i have posted before also about this. From personal experience, i know that unity locks, tracker, steering locks, remote locks, chor switch, are no good !!

You need to hire a reliable watchman or guard with gun in ur street. That is the only method which will deter them. Personally tested. Rest of methods are are for ok if you park ur car at market etc for short while but for night, you need to arrange an armed guard in ur neighborhood.

tracker only shut down the fuel filter ....u can start ur car by directly giving 12v to fuel filter.. which wires are easily traceable.. and by jammer for trackers signal which are available in market easily...the only way which i usually do in my Pakistani Cars i myself make a fuelfiter on and off switch... which i usually off when i park out side..

one more funny solution...u can trace ur car but its a lit expensive.. buy an apple 3gs... activate iphone locator... leave the phone in the car under the seat on silent mode..when u park out side.. or in ur garrage... atleast u can find the location of ur car when ever ur phone will be in a range of mobile signals if they use jammer too...
i usually use this trick to trace my driver..

I am stumped, btw... Altis is no doubt the best feature set i can get in its price, civic has a lot of extra features but too costly.

Man WT* why cant toyota use an immobilizer in their cars, its too damn important considering the security if cars, If suzuki can put that in swift, Toyota can put it in corolla.
