A new car registration has to be registered in a post office within 15 days of its issuance. I applied for reg in March and got the registration letter in mail in May. Went to PO he said issue date is March, I said in March I applied the ETO office usually takes 3 months to process and you should see the date of delivery on the envelop. Muchal Postmaster said na, go to ETO office and get the letter extended.
When I argued he said he could get it done (but for a fee). It is my policy not to give bribe as it is an equal crime/sin of taking bribe howsoever small it may be.
I went to ETO office in F-8, Islamabad and got the stamp on reg in one minute (without any contact or line). I asked the officials that why post offices are doing this and he replied it is their badmashi, this condition has been done away but they are still following old orders as new orders did not get circulated.
The official said that ETO office is now taking back registration renewal business from Post Offices for their wrong doings and making the people suffer in queues and devising some easy new system for tax collection.
