Double Tap! This is what i really missed when I moved from LG to Samsung (btw worst decision ever, will buy v10 or g5)
To get around, I have installed "Screen Lock" from Play Store. I have also installed "Nova Launcher Prime" which have gesture feature. IN Nova>Gestures>Double Tap>Apps>Screen Lock. By this way I can lock the device by Double Tap. For waking up, I use home button.

Are you missing a device for only reason that you liked how it unlocks?

Now 2016 version of Galaxy A3, A5 and even A7 are releasing in January 2016. They have design similar to S6 and Note 5. You can also have a look at them.

A5 (2016) is the most complete midrange smartphone ever.

+1 for Nova launcher. Apart from the screen off gesture, it is an amazing launcher and very fluid with tons of customizations. Definitely worth the $0.99 price tag.

Once you get used to it, there's no going back. It's a very convenient feature. And you'll find yourself trying to tap to unlock other phones too in the first try when you get used to it

Get Infinix Hot2 or any other entry level stock android phone first, if you like that simplicity, then jump to Nexus. Nexus is too boring phone, yet perfect for rooting and customising.

I have no problem with the simplicity, I love it. Only problem is the price of the Nexus 6P. I need to change by March and I have to keep that phone for at least the next 3 years so I have to choose carefully
Currently looking at the LG G4 because it is the best overall phone.

Only iPhone can live for 3 years with updates. G4 won't be a wise decision for long term coz LG is poor when it comes to software updates. Try to get a Nexus 6 used as they are cheap now a days.

Nexus devices itself are a rip off, for most people[emoji1].

Paying 50+ thousand and you get the same software features as Infinix Hot2, though hardware is awesome, but still not worth it.

I had Nexus 6 for sale a week or two back, there is no demand for Nexus devices here. So if you buy it, its not very easy to sell.

People here want features, nexus phones are too simple and do not offer software features that people want here.

In the same price, S6, Note 5 and others offer a ton of useful features, so that's actually a better value for money for most people, especially seeing from resale point of view.

Nexus phones aren't rip-off in the US or areas where they are available at an appropriate price. They're some of the greatest devices ever.
The Nexus 6 is the best Nexus phone so far, if you're up for keeping a phone in the long-run, the N6 is the way to go.

It is however true that Nexus phones have poor resale here, as us Pakistanis are fooled by the useless gimmicks of Samsung, LG and other manufacturers.

For reassurance, try to find an XT1100 Nexus 6, I know the XT1103 supports LTE B3, but I always prefer going for the International variant.

For the G4, don't even consider American variants.

My 70k Galaxy S6 doesn't have 6.0 Marshmallow yet but the G4 does, and the G3 will very soon.

Expected release for 6.0 on S6 is Jan 2016 and for S5 is April 2016.

Plus, the G4 has AOSP 6.0 as well, so the user can switch freely between the LG ROM or Stock Android.
The G4 with it's insanely good looks, beastly specs and extremely worth-it price is the best phone to go for now.

3 years thing looks like a joke to me, seeing the lightning speed technological progress. Using one phone for one year maximum is the best way.

LG G4 is a great option (with removable battery, perfect for long run), but its unofficial here, so not a very wise decision for long term use. I usually prefer and recommend phones that have good spare parts availability and official support, it matters a lot. In case of an unexpected mishap, you don't want any local repairing noob to experiment on your LG flagship, do you?. Think about your previous dead Moto G [emoji14].

No doubt iPhones are beautiful, well-built and gets updated faster than any other Android phone in the market, but I'll never buy a iPhone. Firstly because it is expensive, haha. But actually because how locked down and simple it is. You will use it for a day or two and then suddenly get bored of it. Android doesn't let you get bored

Also what you said about the iPhone's updates, I agree. But not with what you said about LG. The G3 was one of the first phones to receive Lollipop, even before some Nexus phones. Same is the case with G4 and Marshmallow this year. G3 is also about to get it soon.

And like @ihpwf12 said that I can also choose a custom ROM. That's true, I hardly use the OEM ROM if there is a custom ROM available for a phone or you can always customise it using Xposed modules.

Plus, I don't know the market price of the N6 right now, but if it is available for 45k, it can be compared with the G4 and I think the G4 wins. Better camera (very important to me), smaller in size, and just overall newer and better. Nexus 6 isn't bad either, it's just not the right phone.

If a 2010 flagship can keep up with 2015, I really hope that the G4 survives at least 2 years
Been changing a lot of phones but now gotta settle with one for long term use in uni.

What you said about the battery is absolutely true. That is one of the reasons why the G4 is a better choice, including the expandable storage.

What happened to the Moto G was partially my fault, I really hope that doesn't happen again. Electronic devices can break or malfunction any time, you just have to pray that it isn't yours

Most PW people hate Samsung btw, for no good reason. Maybe because Super AMOLED display replacement costs are very high.

Galaxy J series is throughout in Top 10 trending list of Gsmarena for the past couple of weeks and its worth it, though it has some minor drawbacks that could be a deal breaker for some people. J series sells like hot cakes, as per shopkeepers.

As s15 mentioned, the G4 has a removable battery as well.
Buy it without thinking twice.
The Nexus 6 is actually bigger than you think, people may think the 6" size is large, but when you actually hold the phone its like holding a baby tablet.

G4 + AOSP = Best combo.

Market price for a used N6 is less than 45k. Less than 35 for the American variant.
