In 2015 I bought an infinix hot 2 to satisfy the urge to tinker with android software (it is an android one device, easily rootable), cost $120 and ran android lollipop.
A friend bought iPhone 6 16GB from KSA with warranty (they offer quick replacement if you purchase a better warranty over there) around the same period.
He availed that warranty 2 times to be in almost 2.5 years period and he's a more careful user than me, he just cringes when my laptop is covered in dust or my phone doesn't have a screen protector.
The first time, his phone's display showed blank white, then never charged or turned on again after trying to reboot,
the second time, his phone used to require a reboot a few times a day on incoming calls (both whatsapp and sim), the phone would ring but the screen won't respond to any input nor the phone could be silenced (caused disturbance in the class often) and then turn off and on itself again.
And the first phone was bent in his jeans pocket as well
the 3rd time was the charm as iphone X was about to be released, being an iSheep, he got the 2nd replacement (3rd phone) immediately after receiving it and booked an iPhone X.
mean while, the only repair my $120 phone needed (it's plastic and the condition of the body is evident of the number of time's it fell corner first) was a battery change after 3 years of abuse and cleaning the micro usb port as too much lint accumulated in the slots that bind the charging pin to the port and a new screen protector every 2 months (where as his would last his phone)
This time, Apple just didn't work.
