Yep 2mln is max for m/t... only slightly higher because according to a video in this blog, DCT will suck after a while (not easy to repair and costly to replace)... otherwise master motors are going to end up losing $100mln behind rs0.2 mln per car sold...

And by economies of scale that's almost 100k units sold to offset company going bankrupt without even selling a single unit.

I am looking at max of 2.2 M for top model, considering the chinese origin, international price difference estimate. Plus the advantage of 5% reduction of RD on chinese equipment. Factor in all those.

What is good by Master motors is that they are targeting RHD export. This will allow offset and numbers required for economy of scale.

Anyways if people are willing to dish out 2.5 million then please Master Motors should by all means go on about selling it at 2.5 plus own money

Also only in Pakistan let's hope ot doesn't happen and most probably it wont. They can always increase their prices later based on market demand /if export doesn't generate enough revenue

Regarding the price comparison to yaris, there was a discussion earlier in the thread about each market having certain baselines. That is important to take into consideration when setting expectations.

As far as tax incentives are concerned, they were mainly for setting up roots inside the market so that new entrants can be at an equal footing with existing players. The tax benefits given on import of car parts are due to expire in a few months anyway, so I don't expect that to make much impact.

Again, expectations should be realistic and fair. In my opinion it needs to be priced 1.99-2.39 Mn to cause a stir in the market.

it is partially related to mentality of people and mostly currency depreciation that makes "corolla" gain value instead of loosing. Also equally happens with honda and suzuki

Everything is different in Pakistan including the taxes regime + different currency scenarios.

It's quite frankly stupid to assume it'll cost less than the khota gaari Cultus.

All will depend on quality of Alsvin. If it's good then it will sell, because it WILL be lower priced than Yaris.

FAW v2 was quite poor in terms of build quality. Can't be compared with that.

One can only hope that it's as low as possible but can't be below the Cultus khota gaari.

And how is anyone supposed to judge quality of a car unless it has been there on roads for some time? A new car by a new brand originating from China has only two things to attract the customers: more features and low price. They have already reduced features unfortunately. Now only thing left is low price. If price is not low, then it will not sell

disagree to that part, the VXL AGS is pretty close to standard. There are a few things lacking but the same is the case for Alsvin they have reduced a few features as well.

Anyways as i said earlier the price will make or break it.

Dear bother to read again what I wrote , that is 9 lacs INR which is 19.6 lacs PKR , So I used the word "somewhat" to approximate it. Use your simple maths for 9 lacs INR and rectify yourself

There is a difference between "Assembly" and "Manufacturing"

If you are just doing assembly, you don't need any expensive dyes and molding machines etc, nothing much complex engineering involved. Just get everything in final form and paint it.

Even if eventually 2,3 automakers together take away market share from yaris and city that'd help improve things for the consumer in the end.

Also hope our government institutes an environmental tax like other countries that takes away the resale curse which hinders the performance potential of new automakers. Everything other than an investment req that is acting as an entry barrier to a young industry that's occupied by only 3 dominant automakers is bad and has to be done away with.

If Alsvin is launched at 2.5 mil, rest assured toyota will definitely increase price of Yaris owning to their so called premium brand. So price comparison at this time between baseline Yaris and Alsvin top of the line will be invalid to some extent.
Rest its personal preference. The resale mentality will chose Yaris, but if someone intends to keep a car for bare minimum 5 years can opt for Alsvin.

If they replace CHANGAN with some other brand name it will sell great. The car looks nice.

There is a thing that Chinese have tagged themselves with by producing cheap quality stuff over the years.

The Perception: Any brand that sounds chinese = Cheap knock off.

I know its something they would not want to do but atleast ill buy it if they do.
