I would have agreed with you a few years back, but Chinese brands have improved a lot since they started targeting international markets. They might not be as good as the Japanese or Germans at the moment but they can get there. R&D and Quality always comes at a premium cost. Our dilemma is that we want a Mercedes in price of a 70.
I'm not saying that Alsvin is a top quality product, but Changan, like any other brand in the world has the potential to make one. They have to cut the right corners to price it competitively because at the end of the day, it's not charity.
And it's not like Honda/Toyota are making any quality products here, build quality has gone down. The only reliable car in our market has always been Corolla. Other than that, I can't recall a single Civic with some kind of a manufacturing fault. City has been there for generations, and it's a long enough time to fix issues with a car. Besides less features means less complexity hence less troubles
Everything we say right now about Alsvin is just speculation. A car is not something you can judge on paper. You have to experience it on the road.
The company hasn't even made prices official yet. Once they reveal their prices and we see their PKDM models, we'll know which direction they are heading in.
