the problem is that Altis and Civic are on a higher category than alsvin/yaris/city

master motors noticed that no one is offering things like sunroof and cruise control for example, at this price range, and even if they do offer, as you suspect with facelift, it will be a top of the line city/yaris feature... and alsvin top of line is around price of their BOTTOM tier variant, and so they can take significant margin and still have competitiveness

if I could get say... 2017/8 ish corolla/civic in this price range (as some one in india could) the alsvin would never have sold this car for such a high premium... but in pakistan old cars don't have a price decrease, their prices increases! (because of pkr devaluation, but still ;p)

I really hope both alsvin, the new saga and the BAIC models, plus whatever else is coming, create a strong downward pressure in both new and second hand cars

with all the competition coming only the Hyundai Elentra has a significant chance against the Toyota Corolla, Yaris, Civic, City likes.

Alsvin, BAIC, Saga or anything else will take time to develop. If Suzuki could not capture this market its not easy for another new entrant as well.

Out of all the features cruise control i feel is an important feature, Everything else is fancy. The less the features the less things to go wrong.

Eco idle till date has been a menace with Japanese cars. Almost 75% cars are running without the utility of it only because when you replace the main battery you dont reprogram it.

I agree cent per cent, but I have seen this car in KSA, it still has no market and one of the reasons is the un known power train, MG is the only china made car which has a respectable sale and that is because they are using the GM motors. The engine and the transmission of alsvin will be the achilies heel.

The engine is a belt driven one as per their service bulletin which I saw, some one already said here that belt driven is not bad as all volovos have it, but volovos arent really known for long term reliability.

i test drove the car around 18 months ago, the gear box seems fine when you are accelerating or crusing on a highway, but in city drive if you suddenly need to push your car from lets say 60 kmph, you give it a little gas and it just acts like some one took off its clothes in the middle of the road and he cant go back or forward, literally nothing happens for a second or 2.
the dual clutch are great for up shifts, but their inherent problem is if you need to suddenly mnover and the gear cant down shift right away to get max torque and would preferably stay in the same gear until it reaches the ample torque to upshift,

MG ZS is also priced very high, HS was kinda ok price wise as per pak market but MG is also minting now on ZS

As per above FB grp link, someone visited changan yazdani motors (khi) and found out that alsvin booking is about to reopen albeit with a price increase from 100-150k across the three models.

Cant confirm the authenticity of the news but have attached link for your view.

I too visited and they told me that the booking will open on 15th of march and price will be same. I actually went to ask about test drive.

Visited Changan dealership today. Build quality of Alsvin seems okay however side view mirrors are made of pathetic plastic. Feel like they will come off after opening and closing couple of times. Push start and smart entry are missing. Overall the car is good looking. Would have been a big success if priced at its international rate.

And yes, the shift lever marking and positioning of hand brake on the left side were not making much difference while sitting in the driving seat.

It would make difference while driving if water bottles or coffee mugs are placed in cup holders.

How so... We dont use hand brakes while driving, but only when parking... Unless its a drift car, then it might make a difference.

I guess it depends on driving style of a person. I for one always use handbrake whenever I stop the car at any signal or traffic blockage and using handbrake has become second nature for me. But I have seen plenty of drivers not using it even when they stop on hilly areas so I guess it varies from person to person.

Will those be actual CKDs? Given their deceitful behavior in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be CBUs with all indications of them being CBUs carefully removed
