First, please note one thing. Overpriced and bakwas are different things.
Corolla is not bakwas. A 2005 SE Saloon runs well even after 350,000 kms with odometer reversed. Show me one Chinese car that has done that, no world record attempt, no lab setting, real-world miles. It is overpriced. Cultus is not bakwas, the K-Series engine is amazing and the fuel economy is great. It is just not worth 21 lakh, worth 15 maybe in my opinion. City is not bakwas, it has won many awards. It is outdated and overpriced.
If Changan can make honda introduce the new City, force Suzuki to reconsider their price, make Toyota introduce their top of the line Corolla in the same spec as in other countries, it will be great. If it proves that it can run reliably year after year, it will earn my respect.
Until that happens, we don't have the luxury to spend 2-2.5 million on shady cars with unknown reliability and longevity.
And before you say it, please don't give me the apple samsung made in China argument. I will buy a Toyota made in China in a heartbeat, because it will have Toyota standards, not Changan standards. Please read the FAW V2 thread and see why many of us are skeptical.
