Cheap LCD panels and night driving

Tonight I sat in my friend's car with one of those Chinese LCD head units.
And that thing made my eyes bleed.
There is no control to dim the display brightness when driving at night.
What's the point of putting yourself through such torture.

I was thinking of getting a Rock Mars head unit but after tonight's ordeal, I'm confused. I wanted to know if that is also gonna do the same to me every time I'll turn it on during night driving. I'm pretty sure expensive head units don't do that but I am not sure about Rock Mars.

Need some feedback.

Yes All brand names have setting for night. few automatically switch to night mode due to the built in clock. The background turns black.

I have explained in detail why these bright clusters as well as the heads units/ GPS are dangerous. I have a alpine unit in my car. as a switch one the head lights, the lights of the player dims by itself. This means that a good player have option like this.

I have chinese delson, it has an option on top left side, the music will remain ON and screen will be black...BTW i drive a lot during nite time but even with full brightness never felt any prob...first tym heard this

DVD , without nav, starts from 12k, but the quality of 13.5 k is excellent, more options n HD display...dont go for base model...

That's because in your car it is located down below, next to the gear stick.
If you'd install it in the City, in which it is located just below the air vents- right there in the distraction zone- you would face this problem.

Press and hold the mute key to turn of display in rock Mars. Or adjust brightness in display simple

Welcome sir, but i have just noted that the prices i mentioned are of Dellson, not Rockmars....however Rockmars, dellson and premier has almost same prices and quality...all starts from almost 12k, 12.5k and goes upto 22k...

By the term Base Model , i mean the model which comes the most cheap (in least price)...that model always lacks some good features and has inferior built n picture quality...Please Note I am particularly talking about CHINESE DVD PLAYERS like DELLSON, ROCKMARS,PREMIUM ETC...

there is a wire in most (if not all) players that says "ill" or "illumination". this wire is supposed to be connected to the headlight switch on the car so that when headlights are turned on, the player dims automatically. installers usually just connect it to some other place so that feature doesnt work.

Secondly, there is a wire in most (if not all) that is connected to the hand/emergency brake that disables the dvd player's screen when hand brake is disengaged. We Pakistanis ofcourse do not like this as we like to watch our sheela showing her jawani to us when we are doing 120 in the city. so the features are there, we just skirt/disable them to suit our convenience and liking

I guess I'll just get a normal single din head unit that supports USB/SD card. Some how that experience has put me off buying an LCD panel head unit.

i have installed in dash panel in my 2014 honda city and i never faced any problem with it...there is an option for controlling brightness and it automatically dims when i turn my parking/headlights on...u can also turn ur display off while playing music in background
