Chnaging oil grade and brand from 5w-50 to 5w-40

AOA, respected brothers.
I own corolla altis 1.6 sr cruisetronic 2012 model. On recommendation of Toyota guys i am using taglon 5w-50 in my car, which is working fine. The drive and fuel average numbers are fine. But, the recommended oil for 1.6 dual vvti engine is 5w-30. So, please suggest, should i continue with 5w-50 or switch to low grade oil gradually like 5w-40 (fully synthectic havoline), and then finally to 5w-30. The car is driven 99,300 till now, and next oil change is due on 99,500.
Also inform me if there are any issues regarding changing oil brand , as 5w 50 is toyotas own oil, and 5w-40 fully synthetic is caltex havoline.

It totally depends on health of the Engine if its not consuming oil then 5w30 is fine otherwise either you have to use a thicker oil or remove the cause of oil consumption. Rest experts will guide

Will surely check engine oil status tommorow, but as far as i think, engine is not consuming any oil. Althought it is normal for these enginnes to burn some oil, but i dont think there is any oil cutting issue. However, you pointed out rightly. I will chk tommorow.

Using total quartz 5000, from last 3 years,changing oil after 3500-4000km,1st was using zic 10-40 but now a days its price too high about 3900,after running 4000km reducing 500ml,i think its normal,average in city is 14-14.5 km/L,on highway 16-17 depend on driving style,last year i visited multan via g.t road from faisalabad,speed was between 90-100 km/h,achieved 19km/L average

You may find relavant answers in this thread. I own same 2012 Model Altis 1.6 SR 6 Speee. Previous owner was maintaining it from Toyota i.e 20w-50 Oil. I have switched to 10w-40 Liqui Moly and now to Total Quartz 5w-30. Some oil reduction is there but that is fine for me

Okay sir, thanks alot, yes the thread you shared is very useful. So from all the discussion and your experience, i can conclude that shifting to 5w-40 havoline is fine.

Yes absolutely you may shift even to 5w-30 Grade. If there is not much oil reduction, you should continue

Sir please see, took this pic today morning, after heating up engine to normal operating temperature, and then letting it cool down for almost 10 mins. Oil has completed 4800km, as i change oil at every 5000km interval.
