Hi dear pakwheelers,
Eid mubarak to everyone celebrating!
I've a couple of questions regarding the car and specifically the engine in question as I've recently bought a 2005 eagle eye with a D16W9 engine.
A couple of things that I want to learn here are:
1) Ive read online that this particular engine has a two step vtec switchover and this is something that I've not heard before, is it possible that this feature is inactive as I don't really feel the legendary switchover in the recent pulls that I've done.
2) I want an overall checkup of this engine, performance wise, I live in. Isb/pindi, is there a honda specialist recommended that knows these engine types in depth and could check if I'm really getting out the power that this engine is supposed to deliver.
3) are minor leakages in these old engines normal?(Attaching a picture)Uploading... Uploading... By minor I mean that I don't notice much oil reduction or anythig, rather it's one or two drops on the floor
a) I recently got the tappet cover gasket (jang) changed, since that was something that concerned me, what else could be the culprit here and how should I investigate..if I shouldn't..who'd be the right honda guy for this in twin cities
B)my own power steering seems a bit harder while turning.(Just a slight bit) after I recently drove a friend's d17a civic of the same model. What could be the cause here.
4) I completely understand that before wanting to get power and good pulls out of the car, the basics such as engine oil leakeges and other probable problems need to be addressed before I try and get out more performance.
To that end, I've noticed that after my recent oil change (the mechanic put in 20w50 3.6 - 3.7 litres shell oil in the car)
The dip stick seems to show a really high level of oil in the car compared to the high low points that are generally there on the dipstick, is it possible that the previous owner or mechanic has been using a dipstick that is not meant for this engine type? (Attaching a picture)
Also..does this engine need 20w50 really or is supposed to run on thinner oil...
5)after a longer drive..for instance going on the high in 4th and 5th gear and then slowing down and entering a market..to shift down..when I put the clutch in to shift to a lower gear..the rpm doesn't come to 800, rather it drops and requires a little help with the foot to stay up so the car doesn't shut off, I presume this isn't normal. Recently got the fuel pump serviced and throttle body cleaned(mechanic didn't remove the throttle body, left it on). Could this be an auto choke thing?
Appreciate any tips and advices here for first time civic owners, also would you guys recommend a swap to EPS For the steering and some basic mods to improve the car once the basics are sorted.
Thank you and have a great day ahead,
Cheers!
