Civic X Cold Start Problem

Salam Everyone,

Alhamdulillah, I recently bought a Civic X 2019, and I’m thrilled with it. However, I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate your insights:
1. Engine Oil Capacity:
I’m trying to confirm the engine oil capacity for the car. Is it 3.7 liters or 3.9 liters?
2. Cold Start Issue:
On cold starts, I’ve noticed a grinding sound when I shift the car into D (Drive) or R (Reverse). The sound persists for a few minutes but goes away after about 5-10 minutes of driving. This only happens when the car is cold.
• Has anyone experienced something similar?
• What could be the possible cause, and how should I address it?

2. Same sound. Does not impact drive so don’t care as much. Maybe get gear oil changed but not sure if that’ll help

It goes away after about 5-10 minutes of driving. Not impacting driving experience or engine response. But still want to make sure if that thing will n't become bigger issue in future.

The sound you are talking about is of auto tensioner(belt and bearing). This is a know fault in civic. I got auto tensioner and belt replaced under warranty when car was driven 50000km approx and now car has just crossed 100k mark and this sound has started coming again when i start the car in the morning. So nothing much to worry about. It gives tractor like sound for like 10 to 15 minutes in the morning, otherwise it's all good.

So, is your experience similar to mine? The sound completely goes away after about 5-10 minutes of driving.

There’s no grinding noise when the car is in N (Neutral), but as soon as I shift into D (Drive) or R (Reverse), the sound appears.

I have a 2010 Reborn and I have also noticed that in the morning on a cold start when I put the car in reverse then there is this sound and a bit of vibration as well. This goes away after 10-15 mins of driving and does not happen again during the day.
Interestingly, it happens in the morning only and does not happen when I start my car after it stays parked for 7 hours at my work place. Gear oil change is not due for another 30k kms. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Yours is a different scenario. The fault he is talking about is in the honda cvt
Did you try letting it idle for 3 minutes before settingoff

it might be different but mine also makes some noise like gari ka saans band ho raha for like 10 to 15 minutes in the morning in d or r and whenever i take this to honda it doesn't comeback​.

also it sounds like something is grinding like making noises(although not in d or r bur in parking position). It sounds like a bearing which is grinding or something else might be.

Are you sure about CVT? Car runs well no jerk or lag.

I went to Nathiagali last week from Karachi and had a smooth experience with the gear throughout the journey. At one point on the motorway, I even pushed her to 180 km/h without any issues. It seems like the gears are functioning perfectly.

Absolutely, fingers crossed it stays smooth for a long time! Is CVT repairable or replacement is the only option? I am from Karachi.

I have a Civic 1.5T 2016 and I don't have any grinding noises on cold starts.
