Which type of grease is used in caliper slide pins from factory?
As far as I know a good quality silicone grease would be okay for the job but still curious what the factory is using.

Is it necessary to get the VSA Neutral Position Sensor Calibration done after every wheel alignment job?

A correct alignment procedure wont need this job,

Meaning the alignment should be done by arresting the steering wheel.

Hi. Good to see you back

My Civic X 1.8 CVT is now almost having 20,000 kms on the clock.
Been using the same 0W-20 grade oil since day 1, so far so good.
Engine feels a lot more peppier than it was from factory. Fuel consumption is also upto the mark and everything is just working perfectly.

Now there’s a problem I have noticed from a couple of days. Sometimes it happens sometimes it does not.

With engine fully warmed up, when i shift the transmission from Parking to Drive or Reverse sometimes the RPM takes a drop and a very slight vibration (poor idle vibration to be exact) is felt for a second and then it just goes away. RPM stays at 600 +/-50 when in D/R with brake pedal depressed.
The problem is felt only when the transmission is shifted to D or R and it is also not consistent, happens lets say 5 out 10 times only. What could be the problem?
Waiting for your opinion on this. Please help.

• Idle rpm without any load is between 680 - 720
• Idle rpm with load (A/C to Max.cool, Fan Blower to Max, Headlights HighBeam ON) is also the same 680-720 with little to no effect felt in rpms.

Some vibration is normal on a 4 cyl engine. It will get more intense in your car if your battery cannot hold a proper charge as it ramps up engine load.

Guys at the dealership told me to perform a ghusl of throttle body + spark plug inspection/cleaning as its a part of their 20,000 kms checkup

“bees hazaar pe thraatal badi servisss aur plug khol ke checkk karen ge”

upon asking why so early

“humara peetrol acha nahy hai iss wajah se jo kompany kehti uss se pehle kara lena chaiye”

Ask for toyota motor publication of cleaning throttle body, if the service advisor cannot answer then ask for service manager, if he/she cannot answer then contact the principal office customer relations and specifically level 3 technical training,

Ive been wrenching on cars since more than 2 decades now and in more than 2 countries too. i have seen vehicles of all sizes in places with really poor petrol and even alcohol mixed petrol.

Never have I ever seen a factory recommendation to clean a throttle body, I have seen a note to not clean the throttle though.

This test is found in all Hondas, but ive never encountered one that failed and required cleaning.

Its not just honda, a lot of manufacturers have this self test of stuck throttle but never requires cleanup unless your pour glue into it

so last week went for oil change. found a small coolant leak upon inspection of engine bay.

told the dealership guys about this and asked them to put a new constant tension clamp but they came up with a quick fix of putting a jubilee clamp on top of that pipe and told me “ab nahy leak ho ga humaray paas jenyan clump nahy hai”🤦🏻‍♂️

khair after this I’ve almost driven 1000kms up till now and the pipe joint is dry and good.

now should i replace it with a new constant tension clamp or leave it as it is?
I’m a bit worried because of the coolant leak as the car is driven 20,000kms only
Please help!

keep an eye on this clamp in the winter, it will loosen as the hose shrinks from cold - the constant tension clamp adjusts to that change.

However this will work but I would install a knurled type rather than this perforated type.

Salaam ! I was going through the service manual for 10th Gen Civic recently.

In the rear wheel alignment category the service manual calls for “ using a new lower control arm lock nut whenever it has been loosened “

I’ll be doing a rear end toe alignment.

I’ve seen people reusing them after every alignment and for the rest of the car’s life but I’m still confused.

Can I use the same locknut and torque it to the spec or do I have to replace it in every alignment job?

The locking feature of the nut is such that it actually deforms, you can reuse it with a drop of blue threadlocker on the threads though.

Honda have written to replace it as a "CYA" for themselves. In other countries, this nut is very cheap and due to road laws etc it has to be replaced when its disturbed.

But in Pakistan as its not a "parchoon" item like "plug, filter etc" it wont be available for sale easily - thats why I mentioned to use some threadlock.

my Civic’s front outer axle boot is leaking liquified grease.
the first time, i saw some grease on my RHS front rim and it was all spread out on the inner side of the rim plus on the knuckle as well.
went to nearest workshop and upon inspection found out that it is the axle boot which is leaking.

cleaned up all the mess
drove it for 2 kms
came back to the workshop and it was again leaking
these are the pictures of the leak after cleaning:

I thoroughly checked the boot and the boot clamp as well, there are no signs of damage/puncture on the boot and clamp is also looking good and intact.
It is leaking from where the boot clamp sits on the boot and the leak is only from one spot which is shown in the picture.

Is it the boot which is failing or the clamp? The leak is not temporary and leaks a bit of grease every time i drive the vehicle. Please help !

the car is 22,000 kms driven only with manufacturing of Sept 2020.

This is a CV boot clamp failure or the boot has a micropuncture in it. It seems like the clamp has shifted on the CV axle as I see the blue paint marking is not aligned anymore. Best get this replaced - Its an oetiker clamp and requires a heavy tool to crimp down. The clamp should have a 1mm clearance between its ears (the omega shape crimp)

Ask the dealer if they can reboot this properly and if they have the tool - do not let them try to crimp it with zamboor or something else.

The grease being liquid is also normal - its a non-newtonian type non soap thin grease which liquifies when in use.

Same exact issue happening with me from 2 months i have changed boot from honda new boot was installed but leakage again n again now i am planing to change the clamp

The crimp is not complete on this outer clamp, they probably tried with a small tool - you need to use a threaded bolt tool that can apply quite a lot of force, the distance between the two ears of the omega shape in the clamp should be 1mm at max - If you zoom in, you will see yours is quite wide - This is a loose boot.
