CNG Installation in Honda City VARIO

I have just purchased CITY VARIO (a.k.a CVT - automatic transmission) and its fuel economy is killing me. It gives 9km/lit in "D" mode. I am planning to install CNG kit. I know people are successfully installing CNG kit in automatic cars with "advancer" and "emulator" and those cars are working perfect with automatic transmission with CNG (like vitz, liana) but I am looking for opinions on CITY VARIO. I would really really appriciate your opinion or experience.

Your milage will go up after 10,000 KM. Installing CNG in a Vario is absolute SUICIDE! It will slow down to no extent. I suggest you bear it out until your odo shows 10K on the clock. Watch the milage after that.

First of all I apologise for the dual post of the same topic. It was error as my connection in between.

AkbarGr8: It is with AC in current Karachi city driving (lots of construction and blocks). Cannot drive without as in city heat. Moreover it is standard CITY, no rims or anything else. No modifications.

Cylestyne: I will be bankrupt till 10,000km
I am not a active driver like you guys here. I drive my car in very passive mood, no gr8 pickups required for me no racing. How much will I loose if I install CNG keeping in view that I dont mind my car being slow after signal stop when the light turns green.

Stat, my cars average went up automatically after crossing 5K. how much has ur car run uptil now? the Idsi With A/C and A/T tranny will give you loads of problems on CNG. will be like you're driving a rickshaw. assuming your car is farily new, i hope you have taken it to honda for the periodic free check up held at 1000KM , 5000KM and 10,000 KM

for the first 1000Km it will give you 9km/l, after that it will improve to 11km/l with AC and around 13-14Km/l without AC . This is the best milage a 1300cc Sedan can give on petrol.
I wont recommend CNG on CVT transmission.

go to frnds cng, they have the best equipment. get landi renzo advancer/emulator and tomasseto efi kit. if u want extra performance then go for the lambda setup (13k) extra.im running my toyota echo 2004 1000cc automatic on cng and trust me its a charm to drive..city vario wud do just fine with the lambda setup.

avoid cng installation in vario.. keep it as a last resort.. already honda people r giving message in their ads against alternative fuels.

The idsi engine just has 8 valves, and the Idsi setup was designed for fuel efficiency. Idsi VARIO is slow on petrol, i guess it wouldnt be able to move on CNG.

PS: Yeah, besides getting the CNG installed from Friends, you got a free Check Engine light too!..hmmmm..thats nice :S

akbar: toyota's oxygen sensor is sensitive and when its on alternate fuel it shows the check light. city IDS-i doesnt has that sensor, only the vtec does n my cousin got the lambda installed n the checklight dissapeared. The point is vario is slow no doubt abt it but this guy wants to save and trust me a good setup wud hardly drop teh eprformance by 10-15% max. your anti-cng tactics arent gona work here, try somewhere else..

bro i got a vario 2 weeks back and believe me u dont want to run it on cng already the pick an petrol is too damn slow
on cng i dunt know what will happen ......

so geting cng on cvario is BIGG NO NO

i am not against cng ...... but vario & cng are not a match

I drove my friends city vario ,, cannot even tell if its on cng or petrol, ,, an excellent drive on cng . installed from khans motors on main korangi road next to singer showroom

kizzi: AkbarGr8: May be our definition of pickup is different. BUT I dont think VARIO is slow on petrol at all. It can be as compared to M/T cars (ofcourse it will be when compared to M/T that is what manual is for). It gives 0-100KM/Hr in 13.7secs. With good driver it can get better I am sure.

BKid: Can you please tell me for how long he has his car on CNG? What did it cost him? Does he have lamada installed (I dont know what it is, just read it here) or just emulator and advancer? Any know problems that he had due to conversation besides lack in pickup? Phone number of Khan motors? BKid it would be great if you can get this info from him. Thanks in advance BKid. Thats funny, I've driven a friend's CNG Vario (fairly well driven). I didn't enjoy it, it was way too slow. I felt motorcyclists and rickshaws were faster than the car. Thats my opinion though.

Cylestyne: So this is clear from our discussion here that if I install CNG it will turn into a rickshaw. Anyhow now the next question is
- What is the price of converting my CITY into rickshaw?
- For how long, your friend is driving his VARIO on CNG?
- Does he complain about anything other than his 0.9million car is rickshaw now? Something like engine problem or transmission problem?

Stat... My humble advice..Dont even think of installing CNG before crossing the 5000 Km mark. You will simply spoil your engine. 1500 kms is too less a milage to start calculating FC of your car. As someone suggested it will really improve after 5000KMs of running.
