Corolla altis 1.6 2012 mileage problem

AOA pakwheelers!
My corolla altis 1.6 cruisetronic is giving very low fuel mileage about 7-8kmpl in city with a.c with a very light foot (rpm is always kept between 1000-2000)
Using toyota genuine motor oil i.e petron 20w-50 and oil is changed after every 3000km
Any suggestions?

use petron plus 10w30 or any 5w30, 20w50 is for mehran's even for cultus 10w40 is recommended, change fuel and air filters, keep correct tyre pressure and when u go for tuning at Toyota's next time and mechanic attaches the computer, ask him to explain all the codes to you instead of clearing them without investigation and ask him about "fuel trim" values.

Oh I thought it was newer altis 1.6

then there might be sensor fault or a choked catalytic converter, get its throttle body cleaned? and how's the performance?

@usman_arooq2 performance is just like the new altis, never disappointed me
Throttle body is clean and irridium plugs were added

If you are following other tips recommended for good fuel economy e.g. not hauling extra weight, keeping correct tyre pressure and OEM tyre size I can't find any apparent reason for this low mileage other than if the car is being driven in areas with high rush.

Other member might be able to add up something.

It is highly mileage car so why not get ur catalytic converter serviced. May be it is choked.

Using 16" alloys only that are extra but on 15" oem wheels the mileage was same
Another problem I noticed is back seat gets hot.. what could be the problem?

They remove complete exhaust system or specifically just remove CAT from the system and wash it with normal "namak wala tezaab".

I think dealership will charge u too much so get it done from any local workshop. Talk to your mechanic and ask him about CAT cleaning. If he knows the procedure, he will definitely do it.
In which city you are ? so that members will suggest u some reliable mechanic

Heating of back seat means your fuel pump is getting too much hot because it is located under the rear seat. Also get your fuel pump filter check, may be it is choked due to which pump is getting overheated.

I had the same problem. Use fuel additives and Shell's hioctane. It will be better for sure. But don't expect 11-15 from Altis . With AC 8-9 without 10-12

@irtaza.j bhai I remembered when it's average was around 11-13kmpl. I drive with a very light foot
Now I'm getting only 7.2kmpl or maybe less, with a full tank it runs only 350-370km in city

So got my throttle body, O2 sensor, spark plugs and injectors cleaned today
My mileage raised from 7.2kmpl to around 8.5kmpl
Also got it's CAT checked and yes it is choked, will get it serviced tomorrow and then I'll check it's fuel average.
